Kel-Tech SU-16
« on: November 19, 2014, 05:28:31 PM »
Hello all. I am really liking what I see out of these rifles.
I have never seen one in person however.
Before I get too involved I thought that I'd ask and see if anyone on here has any experience or better yet owns one of these.
I think I like the SU-16C the best.
I thought I sa w 16-F with an 18.25" barrel as well.
I would appreciate any thoughts, positive or negative.

Thanks.
I have a CZ and some other guns.
I really want to have more. That's not a bad thing.

As would I. I've thought about getting one for a long time and the 16C would be my choice as well.

They really seem like a nice compromise and blend between the AR and AK platforms.
I sure hope that someone on here has some experience with them.

Sold mine at the peak because of the price. Was very accurate. Little flimsy in the fold up stock. Get any but the glock version. If its SW you are set. If not get the SW mag set for it and you can use your CZ mags. Glock version can't be converted to anything else.

added note:  KT sent me the mag change free when I called.

When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

I used to have one and really liked it. It's light, accurate and fun to shoot. Probably not suitable for firing 100,000 rounds a year but who really does that?

I think you are referring to the Sub 2000. The SU16 is a 223 caliber rifle or pistol platform. The concept is excellent but could never get past the build quality and the price for a plastic gun. It never felt right when I shouldered the gun, but never fired one.

You are correct. Had both. THe brain farts happen more frequently as you get older. The Su16C was as I described. Very accurate but the flimsy stock was a PITA. If doing another I would not care about firing with stock folded and go with less flexible.

Ability to fire with the stock folded was one of the things I was looking at so that's good to know, thanks.

I kind of want one, but Keltec's rep and the lack of CZ 75 drums kills it for me.

Major part failures. Poor quality.

I'd spend a few bucks more and get a Mini 14.

Thanks for all of the responses. I was mostly just looking for a less expensive alternative to an AR-15.
I think my best bet will just be to save a little more and get a nice entry level ar.
Thanks all.
