CZ 85 1991
« on: February 06, 2015, 10:11:24 PM »
Hello all. I'm new to this forum and to the CZ pistol. I recently got back into competition shooting. I shot IPSC for about 10 years and life took me away from it for about 10 years. The group I shoot with now shoots mostly steel so major and minor doesn't make a difference. I was looking for a competitive 9mm and my research pointed to a CZ 75. I happened by a pawn shop(not the place I would normally go to purchase a gun) and found a CZ85 with a manufacturing date of 1991. This pistol is in like new condition. The only markings on it is the serial number(slide, frame and barrel), Model 85 cal 9 Luger and Made in Czechoslovakia. There is no importers Mark. It has adjustable sights but they are to small for me and I was thinking about having better sights installed. Before I have this pistol's slide milled for new sights I was wondering if this gun has a collectors value. I would hate to have a collection piece modified when I could sell this and buy a different pistol to have modified. I would up load pictures if I knew how. If you PM me with your email I can send pictures. Someone please let me know if I have a shooter or a collection piece. Sorry for the long post!

Welcome to the forums!

My guess is that 1991 is not old enough for collector value but i am not real familiar with the collector side of things. I am sure someone with more knowledge on the subject will chime in.

Gratz on you new CZ.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

welcome,

while some CZs will have more value, it will depend on what features or finish it has and how complete it is.

chances are the 85 you have is USED and as such, will not be worth as much as a 100% NIB, not fired CZ in the same version.

Imo, if you like it, just buy it and mod it to your hearts content.

You could have an early 85 Combat. The sights are not available so you might be able to sell the factory sights to fund what you want.
I had the right to remain silent...

but not the ability.
