805 Bren Pistol
« on: June 02, 2015, 02:41:51 PM »
Does anyone out there know where I can get the CZ rifle stock for this gun?

I already have the pistol on a form 1 but now need the stock to finish it.

Probably not for some time, because you will need the 922(r) compliance parts for it to be legally SBR'd. CZ-USA said they are bringing out the Scorpion compliance part set soon, but I have no idea about the BREN kit, as the demand is lower right now.  I would love to get one myself, but the price balks my wallet for now.
Heck, I don't know if ATFE has even identified the parts for it yet! On the other hand, CZ Custom is already making some compliance parts for the Scorpion, so you might check with them. If we can get the AR-15 magazine adapter, that would eliminate 3 right there. :)

armoredman, are you saying that the ATF approved your form 1?  I just picked up my bren today and I'm wondering if I should submit it to the ATF before the 922(r) kit is available.  Its the first time I've done this, its only recently become legal in my state.

No, I have submitted no Form 1 - I lack both the BREn and the $200 to do that yet. :) Scorpion owners have been submitting and getting them approved - you just can't BUILD it until you have the compliance kit. It just means you CAN when you get the parts.

Thanks.  I got my bren from Bud's.  It looks as good as expected, but maybe a little heavier.

I've been thinking I should have an AR type rifle for years, but never really liked them after my army experience with the M16.  I don't like the AR gas blowback and the buffer tube makes it hard to have a collapsible or folding stock.  When I saw the bren with AR type mags in 5.56 it was exactly what I had been waiting for. It just needs a stock, it would be really awkward to shoot as a pistol.

I don't really care for the 5.56 either, but that's another issue.  I did want something that used standard mags and standard ammo and thats pretty much 5.56 with AR mags.

Any word on the availability of a 16" barrel assembly so you can make a non-NFA rifle from a Bren pistol?
The story so far:
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

I asked about availability of a 922r parts kit on cz's Facebook page yesterday and got a quick response.  You might try asking there.

Would you still need the 922r parts to turn it into a rifle?

Yes, you have to have the 922(r) compliance setup because the PISTOL is importable with all foreign made parts, but the RIFLE falls under that goofy import ban, so it has to play the "ten or less" game to use regular magazines, etc. The BREN pistol is really intriguing, and I probably would sacrifice an unused body part to get an SBR version.

I really like the BREN but only in rifle form. I have no issue paying for the tax stamp but I want to be in compliance and I am already getting restless waiting for the kit for the Scorpion. This one doesn't have a kit on the horizon and for that reason, it will stay off the want list until its possible to SBR it and make it 922 compliant without sourcing tons of custom made parts.

I don't know about the factory stock, but there's a guy on GunBroker selling a modified MagPul stock for both the 805 & the Scorpion ... Here's the one for the 805:

I'm looking for a stock too! I think as the weapon becomes more and more common the innovative parts guys will start offering all manner of stuff for the 805 as above. With the rapid prototyping abilities (think 3-D printing) stuff seems to go from idea to useable part pretty quick nowadays. I suspect folks are already burning the midnight oil to have a stock out first. Good ideas that can be made of polymer usually have quite a bit of profit potential also (think Slidefire).
