SAR B6P-the takedown pin protruding on the right side
« on: June 04, 2015, 12:02:48 PM »
I haven't slept at a Holiday Inn Express for a while but I can't see a reason for that pin to stick out so far from the frame.  I'm sure the taper on the top of the pin eases insertion past the keeper spring but couldn't that be shortened?  My question is, has anyone ground the pin down 1/8" or so to where it wasn't a potential snag point?
I did pry up on the spring keeper on the inner right side of the frame and eased the tension enough to where I can free it loose with finger pressure instead of a punch.

When I get some time I'm going to try and make a short copy of the takedown pin and see if it will still function in the shorter version.

Careful taking the tension off of the slide stop spring. You can wind up with the slide locking back with rounds still mag when shooting. As for taking the slide stop out, just tap it with the butt of screw driver to get it started out.

I see your point, I only considered it a pin keeper.  Back to original it goes, I don't need any malfunctions to this great shooting pistol!   Thanks.
