Serial number question?
« on: March 22, 2002, 10:19:13 PM »
Does anyone know if there is a dating code used by CZ?
I know for Walther and Hk AA1432 means year 2000 #1432

My SA is an AW2##.  Is this a low number or is it in the 22000s (one set of 1000 for each letter starting at A)?

The one in Handguns is AV546.  Did they start at AA001 or something else?

CZ has a date stamped adjacent to the proof mark on the CZ75 models.  This is located just behind the ejector port on both 75SA's that I have in front of me.  The stampings are 00 and 01, which are consistent with the pattern testing documents provided by the manufacturer.  The oldest of the two has a pattern test dated in Nov 2000, and the latest was pattern tested in Mar 2001.

The serial numbers on each pistol do not seem to follow the same pattern as yours.  Both numbers begin with an "A" and end with an "X" with 4 numeric digits in between.  CZ-USA is required to keep records of what serial numbers were sold and to whom, and when, but I don't think they have any date significance.  Have a good day!

Dang it!  At one time I knew about the year stamp.  Thanks for the reminder.

I can't believe I forgot.

Does anyone else have a 2 letter code then 3 #s?
