Kudos to David from CGW
« on: June 29, 2015, 11:03:47 PM »
I have been lurking here for awhile trying to learn as much as I can regarding CZs.  I decided to register and in my fist post, to praise David from CGW for his dedication and commitment to provide the best product and customer service.  From what I gathered from reading for awhile in this forum is that David's dedication is widely known here.

Also, part of this post is to mention the issue that I have (to be corrected shortly) with my new 75BD for other members to be aware of.  I decided for now to install a CGW ring hammer and RP spring kit and to polish the internals.  Everything went as expected with some challenging moments dealing with the decocker sear cage as other warned.

After everything went back together, I could NOT make the hammer fall in SA depite that the trigger was already at the end of the travel. DA, DA to SA, decocking the hammer action were fine.  After trying several time the hammer starting to work in SA, but I have no trigger overtravel.

I emailed David and he adviced me to call him to figure out what was going on (Saturday morning).  Many gunsmiths and gun owners would say "it's working now, there is nothing to be fixed"  but NOT David.  He will go through lenghts to find out what is going on.
Apparently my pistol is at the end of the acceptable specs regarding the interaction between the trigger bar and decocking sear. So, with his hammer installed brought out the issue as his parts have tighter tolerances.
According to David, he has seen this happening in three different occasions (now four).  Unfortunately the only way to solve this issue is to have to modify a sear by adding material at the sear lever.  I don't remember if the lever has to be extended or build up the contact area.

Regardless of the sear modification detail, I was willing to do what was needed to solve the issue.  Well, to going back to the tittle of this post; He offered to modify and send the sear at no cost on my end!   That is what I call great customer service!  I did not know what else to say than just "thank you".  We all know that he is extremely busy and modifying the sear will take some time which is OK for me since we want to solve the issue for good instead of just putting a band aid.

Sorry for this long post.  Looking forward in learning and contributing here.

Thanks guys for the welcome.  I haven't shot my 75BD yet.  I am tempted but I am leaning to hold until the modified sear gets installed.
