Red Safety Dots 'Just' Fell Off
« on: July 01, 2015, 01:54:28 AM »
Brand new CZ 75 B SS. Cleaned inside and out with CPL. It must have gotten under the red dots, because they immediately fell off. Both of them. Is this normal?

I don't think I like the fact that it happened and I know I'm not sure how un-safe it is to not have red marks on a fun indicating the safety is off .? ... ??

Cal 1-800-955-4486 and press for gunsmith. They'll help you out.

I wouldn't even go that far. Red paint pen sounds like a quicker and easier solution to me. Make several "coats" so the red stands out more than it would on its own with a single coat.
snakeye, no worries, I don't need someone in a leotard. :)

You can also use nail polish,  or the paint sold in small quantities for use on models. Just degrease the area first (I use nail polish remover). It's no big deal even if you don't have the red dots - once you know how to use the gun you don't really need reminding

If they came off clean i would leave them off. If its bugging you, as mentioned above, red nail polish should do the job.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Thanks guys, great suggestions!!

Being a new gun owner I wasn't sure if, even if I found it acceptable, it was considered bad etiquette (for lack of a better word) to leave those red dots off.

If I do put them back on I'll use the nail polish or model paint suggestions. Those are excellent ideas.

I think your good without them as long as anyone handling the gun knows the proper safety on/off positions. Personally I am leary of ever twisting the gun to look at the safety when it is live.
However as others have said I would probably just touch up with some red paint and be done with it. And some guns have reversed safety positions so maybe if you have someone that is unfamiliar with the CZ it might help them.

A toothpick is better than a brush to get the paint in the hole and only in the hole!

Use a Q-Tip for any paint that gets out of where you want it. Go slow, use several layers instead of one giant goobered layer. YOur dots fell out probably because it was one giant goobered layer.
