CZ75 omega vs CZ 85
« on: July 03, 2015, 11:47:13 PM »
Hey - new to the forum - here's the question: I have a CZ75B with the Omega trigger. I love the gun - any shortcomings in accuracy are purely operator error, for certain. I am thinking, however, that I would like to trade that for a CZ85 - I seem to be reasonably accurate (for an inexperienced shooter) with both hands, so that seems to be a logical move. From what I have read, I am glad that my CZ75 has the Omega trigger instead of the original CZ75 trigger system. The CZ85 doesn't appear to have an Omega version, however. Q1: Can teh CZ85 be customized with an Omega trigger system so it feels the same shooting it as my CZ75? Q2: What about the CZ85 Combat trigger system? How is it different/preferred compared to the Omega trigger (for a casual, non-competition shooter)? Thanks for the guidance and information.

Allen

Welcome aboard from MT.
1. Sorry, No
2. 85B has a firing pin block, 85C does not. That's the only difference in the trigger.
3. It's all in personal choice. I don't own an Omega, the Omega is supposed to be the simpler trigger system. A lot of guys say it's better out of the box. Some prefer the 75/85 trigger system because it can be tuned (modded) a little more. Once again it's all personal choice[emoji6].

Stick with the Omega.  Better out of the box and better when upgraded.

Thanks all for the welcomes to the forum  :)

Cntrydawwwg, thanks for the answers - as I suspected about the 85+Omega, but unfortunate to have that "better"(?) trigger on just the 75 and not the rest of the 75/85 family. Oh well.

Birdsaway, not planning any upgrades to anything yet, but it's good to know it's possible and doesn't lose the Omega feel.

Ok, then, since a CZ85 Omega is not a possibility, is it possible to modify the CZ75B to add ambi safety and ambi mag release? Then it's pretty much an 85 isn't it?

I have a new 75 ?, and used a small punch to switch the left sided mag release to the right side of the frame. I'm not a lefty, but from using the right side of the ambi HK mag release with my trigger finger, it seemed like a good way to transition to CZ.

9mm_shooter,
That does seem like a pretty simple thing to do, even for a novice like me - I wonder if you couldn't replace the mag release with the ambi one from the 85 - or am I misunderstanding? Likewise, could I replace the LH slide release with the ambi release of the 85??

The 85 doesn't have an ambi mag release, the button just switches from one side to the other.

Now concerning your ambi safety, you might talk to Stuart from CZ Custom to see if they can do it for an Omega pistol.  I believe they've done it for the regular 75 Series.  It's a custom mod, that would involve milling the frame.  At that point, I'd save the cash and buy a 2nd pistol.

Any reason for ambi mag release and safety?

Another option:

1. Chase the Unicorn and find a P-02.
