I hate cleaning firearms but I just can't leave one dirty. I would not be able to sleep.

bugboy, Lackland taught newbies to clean them.  Later on not so much.

A 500 rd (or more) match will show they can go uncleaned.  I still like to give a quick wipe-down on  the feed ramp, rails, breech and area around the trigger bar.  Oil is your friend either way you go.

I clean mine after about 700 to a 1000 rounds. I lube the critical areas after every match. If I use my pistol when it's sandy, wet or really humid, it gets cleaned as soon as possible, especially the magazines and the mag well. Those areas seem to rust faster. I shot the NC Sectional this weekend on Friday and worked as RO Saturday and Sunday. I did a quick wipe down Friday night and didn't look at it again until this morning. Rust had already occurred inside and out of the magazines and inside the mag well. You never know when the crud will cause a failure and I really don't want to find out at the wrong time. My pistol seems to actually run better after about 200 rounds and starts showing some degradation in performance around 800 - 1000.

I've had similar experience.  Unless the gun has been shot in extremely dusty/sandy or wet/humid environment, or showing surface rust, it gets a quick external wipe down and put away for the next time. Mean round count between cleanings ends up being around 1000 rounds.

This has to be at least the 4th time I've read that I should clean my CZ's, still not too sure about that.  I do clean my rifles after a shoot but my handguns not so much.

No, they never issued me a weapon,,,,, they did issue me a serialized wooden tent stake that was supposed to simulate a M-16 during one exercise/deployment/"charlie foxtrot".

No sense of humor involved.  They really did give me a serialized tent stake that we had to keep track of as if it were a rifle.

Same unit, but before I got there ---- they put USAF communications guys on the beach in Grenada with no weapons at all,,, they were pinned down by Communist fire until some Marines could come rescue them.

I clean all my guns after shooting, this way I can look for any issues, etc.
I also enjoy cleaning them, and it's a great way for me to just chill out.

I must be OCD too. I clean my guns after every match and range trip.
