Normal to have file marks on slide rails?

Hi all! Man what a great forum, this resource was a huge part in me getting a CZ compact (steel frame) over other options. LOVE the gun, have put about 1000 rounds through it with 0 problems.

I am a little curious at some of the fit and finish though, and am wondering if this is common among CZs or if I happened to get a slightly less 'pretty' gun. I'm not really hung up on the finish, but if I start looking at SP-01s I would like to know if this is normal:

Couple things to look at here - the dots circled in red is dust underneath the coating. The one on the slide near the serial number is very pronounced, enough to catch a fingernail on it.

Bottom of the slide has what appear to be bastard file marks! It also has a LOT of wear for only a thousand rounds compared to my 1911-style guns (I threw one in for comparison that has almost 5k rounds through it). In particular the slide stop pin on the CZ seems very very worn down.

Roll pin was a HUGE pain to get out even with roll pin punches. I was actually using a 4lb hand sledge to knock it out. I ordered the solid pin from CZ Custom but it seems a little too big, I don't want to force it into the slide.

Whatcha think? Know that I'm not b!tching, for $500 I feel like I got a great deal.

I have owned a few CZs and currently use my P-01 as my primary. My finish has a couple spots that are raised and I assume it is from something that was on the frame during the polycoat process. The file marks on the slide are EXTREMELY common on CZs. The inside of the slides are often rough and not pretty, but they still work great.

I admit, I was the same as you when I first took apart my P-01 and saw just how many tooling marks and file marks there were, but seeing how this is the standard from them...I accept it. The gun is amazing and works like a tank.

Great, good to know! It really doesn't turn me off from CZ but mostly wanted to know if it is typical.

Most likely they are not file marks.  they are tool marks left by the milling of the slide. CZ does a good job of using it's endmills past there useful life.

Not to change the subject, but you have a pic in there of a Sig 238 or 938. Question is, does your slide stop just push out with ease? Seems the slide stop spring pictured does nothing but to provide tension against the lever for the mag to override on last round. Is that correct?

It is a p238, with about 5k rounds through it. The spring does, I believe, apply some tension to the slide stop pin. However, it doesn't lock into a groove like the safety on a CZ. The slide stop will only come out when the slide is barely pulled back, and you have to sort of lift the pin up and out. Hard to explain but it's much easier to disassemble than a CZ - no tools/hammer or anything needed.
