ACR Adapter
« on: January 13, 2017, 11:05:33 PM »
Newbie question.

How do I place an order for an adapter with Gunman9?  It appears the thread is past and is locked for further posting.  I have a non-folding stock and an adapter is required to be a folding stock.  Although I know there is another manufacturer also on the adapter business.  But it looks like the Lucky Irishman Firearm looks better and possibly better quality?

Thanks.

The Lucky Irishman Adapters are no longer made and no more will be made at this time. Also it does not work with the non folding stock. you have to have the folding stock.

I would like to open up this thread for further discussion.

I received my ACR Adapter and ACR stock (attached) just earlier this week.  I finally had the time to do the install.  Short story is that the new Adapter did not come with a "Release Button" (if this is the correct technical term) on the stock from the Upper Receiver.

I was able to remove the Button from original stock and transfer to the ACR Adapter.  After install, I found out that the Release Button was way too short and had to use a blunt prod with handle like a 1/4" ratchet handle.  It works.  The ACR Adapter is approx. 1/4" thicker.

However, would anybody know if there is any aftermarket longer "Release Button"?  What did you guys do to remedy this situation?  I have contacted Mississippi Arms for technical help.  I am still waiting for response but I tried this route for more "inside information".

I also did notice that the ACR Adapter are maybe really maybe a thousands smaller to let the original Takedown Pins insert a little bit snuggier.  I had to lather the pins with CLP.  Removing in the future would be dicey.  I might say......

Thanks.

My install was similar but not a big deal to me. How often do you plan on removing the adapter anyway? Why would you even want to replace the release button with some aftermarket part just to make it a little easier to take the adapter off?

My complaint is the aluminum adapter has sharp edges where the stock hinge folds and shaves off plastic every time I fold it. MAA states this is common and also among the SCAR ACR adapters. I still think they could've taken a little off the sharp edges.

I also would've liked to have known before I bought the adapter that the stock won't fully fold because of the sling adapter. MAA states they are working on a replacement for the sling adapter that has the right side loop removed and will let the stock fold closer.

The hinge pin is extremely tight and I wouldn't want to have to remove it again. Even with the factory spring installed, the stock doesn't seem to pivot properly like it does with the factory adapter to keep the stock folded in place.

Got one on my BREN SBR and had no issue in the release button - I installed from a pistol via SBR with the CZ adapter so maybe that was different. The stock - adaptor interface isn't tight which bothers me - allot. I tried a threaded screw tighten it up after Cerakoting in FDE but it lasted only 1-2 mags. I've got thin brass in there now and it's fine - overall, nice stock but clearly a gen 1 product and I'm a gen 3 kind of consumer I guess. Ah well. Matt

If there are no other longer release button, well...so be it.  I do not even think there are any aftermarket production.  I can work around the release button.

However, on your other issue on sharp corners on the adapter, this I also agree.  Boy are they sharp.  I had to lather up the adapter with lubrication just so they would slide better to the rear upper receiver.  Snug fit would be an understatement.

The Rear Takedown Pins are very snug fit to slide into the adapter.

BTW....thanks to all you guys for your response.

I've had my adapter from the same people for a while now, I was one of the first to get one & I've had no problems even though I've put a large amount of rounds through it. I've removed the rear pins a few times to clean my Bren, it does get easier to insert & remove.
