Leather for my Compact
« on: October 14, 2015, 10:06:11 PM »
Anyone have either of the holsters below for their 75 Compact? I've narrowed it down to those two makers if I go leather or a Garrett Industries if I go the kydex route. I don't see the Compact listed on Simply Rugged site but have seen it mentioned in a thread or two on here.

For those that have uses either of these holsters what are your thoughts?

  • Simply Rugged Cuda
  • Highnoon Slide Guard

I have a lined High Noon Side Guard for my SP01 and it is fantastic. Quality...Well, It's why you have narrowed your choice to this holster. Hope that helps at all.

Oops my typo... Slide Guard not Side Guard

You don't happen to have a picture of your SP-01 and the Side Guard do you? I need a holster for my SP-01 as well.

Wright Leather Works produces a high quality leather holster which you may want to look at.

Thank you for posting those pictures - nice looking package all around. How are you liking those grips? I've got the aluminum grips with the tape on my SP-01 and really like them but was thinking about going with the checkered aluminum for my Compact.

SI VIS PACEM PARRABELLUM - I'll take a look at Wright Leather works as well, thanks!

This is my grip set up for Hog hunting and these grips are perfect in this application. These are the CZC Thick Aggressive Alum grips "Lemon Graters". They provide superior grip/hold, especially when paired with gloves (Hog Hunting). They provide excellent bare handed grip with muddy/wet/dirty hands making them a very effective hunting grip.
I have read comments from several others that find them favorable in competition.
As for being uncomfortable to bare hands; no one who has ever shot this pistol has complained about the sharpness of the grips.
The Thick version of this grip provides a diameter closer to the factory grip which is the size I preferred.
As you can see this is an OWB holster. You would want a t-shirt or more between you and these grips for an IWB carry.
Unfortunately, I do not believe that CZC currently makes this version in a compact size.
Cheers!

Westy:  I have a PCR and bought a High Noon "Snapper" lined holster for it when I first purchased the gun.  Afterwards, I found out about Privateer Leather and had one of the "Raider" models built for the PCR, they also list the Compact too, which I feel is a better holster as I prefer the "Avenger" style of belt loop setup to the typical "pancake" versions.  If it matters, you also have a wider range of color choices with Privateer.  I had mine made with a black body, cordovan overlay, and white stitching so it is the same as the holster for my 97B-E.

I use a Simply Rugged Defcon 3, a beefed up Cuda. It can IWB with the included straps. It's very comfortable, retains well, and is just a nice bit of leather. I've been try to post a picture of it from my iPad for about 15 minutes now and am giving up. I don't use photo hosting apps.

BGD - thanks for the info on the grips. It looks like the custom shop has that style for the compact just not in the most aggressive version. I may have to give them a try, really like the looks of them.

None of those, I do rely on a Safariland 568 I think its called, and an Aker Flatsider Shoulder rig designed specifically for the Glock-19, which fits the PO1 like a glove when the trigger is in the half cock postion!

I was looking at the custom pistols on the CZC site and I saw what looked like Compact Aggressive Checkered aluminum grips. You should give them a call and see if they have any off-menu items available for sell.

I don't know if you took into consideration Kramer Leather or not, but I have found them to be the finest leather holsters out there.  Expensive?  Yes, but they are extremely well made and just a first class holster.

I've owned a High Noon stocking item. I would steer anyone toward them for an affordable option.  Still, for a decent weight gun like a CZ c, I really like my http://sideguardholsters.com/holsters/DblClip.htm

They also have an OWB belt slide or snap.
