I've had the BD for a year and have put about 2000 rounds through it.  It's my favourite semi-auto to shoot - preferred over my P226, 92FS, or G17.  I prefer not to have a light rail, just from an aesthetics point of view.  It's the classic look of the CZ75 with a decocker.  I prefer a decocker over a safety any day.  I find it hard to keep it out of my range bag on Saturday morning!

Are the grips to a 97 larger then a 1911 (or Beretta 92FS)?

Still, undecided between an SP-01 & 75BD

The 97BD that I got came with the ultra slim alumium grips.  While the grip is a little longer then the standard 75, they're not overly large reminding me of my SP-01 Phantom.  The 97 is a dream to shoot with felt recoil and muzzle flip of other non-CZ design 9mm.  The only downside is that it's capacity is only 10+1 and its weight.

As for your other inquiry, I personally went with the 75BD.  I owned both the BD Police and the SP-01 Tactical but just didn't like all the weight out front so I sold it.  I also had a Kadet .22 conversion that fit the BD better and the balance was more comparable to the other CZs I own.

If you have to have a accessory rail, then try and find either a Phantom (good luck!) or a P-09.   I also owned a P-09 but sold it due to it wouldn't accept standard CZ 9mm magazines and the decock was backward to CZ other (except the P-07) decockers.  The polymer models will save you approximately 10-12 oz. over that of the metal frame models, which if you plan on carrying it, you'll greatly appreciate halfway through the day.

I have both a CZ82 and a 97 and the 82 seems to have thicker grips than the aluminum grips on my 97. SP01 would be a good choice as well as would a 75, 85, etc. You can't go wrong with any CZ IMHO.

The BD will go well with your PCR.  If you can find a BD Police, it will match your PCR even better.

Got it!  Picked it up a couple days ago out of California jail.  Heading to the range w/ my PCR later this week.

As I like my pistols OEM, most likely I'll sell these VZ Diamond Black Cherry grips and go back to the originals (I must admit these do feel gooood!).

Took the SP-01 to the range this morning. Such a sweet shooter. If I had one small gripe, the nose started feeling heavy as I neared 100 rounds (124gr). But this pistol will be with me for a looong time.

Glad you're pleased with you SP01.   By the way, I'm not the guy to ask "which CZ", as I've no intention of deciding...

IIRC the 75 BD has plastic grips and the SP 01 has the better rubber grips IMHO.  I held both and liked the SP 01 better, the grips and the beavertail did it. The SP 01 also had night sights.

It's easy enough to swap out the plastic grips for the rubber.
