P01 question

I saw a picture of a new p01 and there was a gap behind the mag release. Is this part of the design ( if so what purpose does it serve) or is it a defect?

Whoa!  The pic of the Omega is huge, and I don't know know to downsize it.

I don't know if this is new or not. But mine is about 2 months old and you can see it has a gap on both sides of the frame just aft of the magazine release.

It's design. Every P-01 I've seen has it.
