Which Full Size CZ ...
« on: December 06, 2015, 05:27:11 PM »
Yes, I've used the search function :) Read some very interesting discussions, thank you!

Here's my context: new P-01 Owner, and I'm not kidding when I say nearly all the other guns in the safe are on the chopping block now. Wish I had put my hands on a CZ decades ago, and saved myself the time and $. I've hunted with, competed with, and collected handguns of various kinds, and have either shot or owned enough different styles and brands to know what works for me. I love the P-01 and will most likely send it off to CGW to tune it up. I've got a Kadet kit in the works. Now I need a full size - I have the $, and now is the time as I will only have about 6 months to enjoy them before I PCS overseas and put them in storage for a few years.

I recently sold off my last 45, but still have a very large amount of 45 and reloading set up to make even more, so I had been considering the 97B. But I'm really impressed with the new 9mm bullets, and would be happy to switch entirely to 9 and go with a 75 or variant. I'm not looking to build another race gun (done that) or finicky range toy - I want a "to hell and back" reliable accurate shooter that will take a beating - I know the 75 can do it, and has proven its worth already. So I'll put the question like this, if you could only grab one full size CZ pistol as you headed into harm's way, which would it be.

Thanks in advance for your comments - I'm a good vicarious learner.

As a relatively new CZ shooter, I found the same thing to be true once I picked up my first one.  I did it the other way around though.  My first was a CZ75 BD.  Then I went to the P-01 because it had the exact same decocker and I figured it would be best to keep all controls the same.  Now I am waiting for the next in line, a RAMI BD.  If I had the P-01 first and was happy with the feel, I would surely go for a 75 BD for my full size.  I just enjoy having that same decocker on both.

Heading into harms way, a P-09.    There's no question.  Accurate and reliable with a 19 round magazine.  Heading in to harms way, I might need to be walking a lot.   P-09 is light weight.
Don't mistake my high post count for knowledge or wisdom.   I just like hearing myself type.

Without a doubt It would have to be my CZ75BD.  I have not held another gun that feels as good as the 75BD.

SP-01 Shadow either Cajunized or CZCustomized.  IMHO, you get a shorter, crisper reset on a customized SP-01 shadow because it has no firing pin block.

I like most all of their full size guns. They are inexpensive enough for what you get. Buy a few every year and soon you will have a nice collection. My favorit right now is the 97 in polished blue. I like mine a lot and it sits on the top shelf of the safe next to a les baer and a colt custom in blue. :)

I wound up ordering a 75BD, based on some research here and elsewhere. Thanks for all the input! Given its my third CZ purchase in a month ... there are probably more in my future. :)
