Request info on the CZ-83 with nickle (?) finish.
« on: January 08, 2016, 05:35:16 PM »
I own an 82, and read somewhere that the 83s with this finish/coating are for commercial export? How would somebody determine whether it was done by the factory?

Memphis doesn't seem to have any regular 83s, and a pawn shop has this beautiful gun in "nib"/mint condition (but no box), for $400.

Other than the finish, are there any differences in the gun's components or operation compared to most of the typical 83s?
I noticed that the DA trigger has a pause during the pull, similar to the 75 or 75 Compact.

Any info is appreciated.

Can't answer your question on how to determine a factory done finish. However, in my experience, there's no operational difference as far as I can tell. The later production ones with the combat trigger guards had those in black whereas the older rounded trigger guards were nickel. No difference in the magazines supplied (black body). That seems to be a good price for nickel plated mint condition. CZUB has resumed production and export of the CZ 83 (no nickel sightings though) based on recent forum member posts after about a 3 year hiatus. Good luck with your search.

Thanks.
Possibly the gun's moderate retail price is the result of being in that shop only a short while (it's a fairly large .380), or an informed potential buyer realizes that production has restarted on typical 83s.
