Installing CZ Rubber Base Pads
« on: December 15, 2015, 11:48:26 PM »
I bought some rubber CZ base pads from Greg Cote LLC.  They look like authentic CZ.  I thought it would be really simple to install them on the CZ magazines - I just slip them over the existing metal base plate, right?   It's a very tight fit so I aborted and am now researching.  Nothing on YouTube.  Upon a search of this forum, I could only find a 10-year-old thread where the OP wrote that he used a mallet. Does that sound right?

Are these the ones? http://gregcotellc.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=173&products_id=1420
If so, they replace the metal base plate. You have to remove the existing plate and then just pop the rubber ones back on the mag.

That's the one.  I see now on the description that it says they replace the stock steel plate.  So, how does one remove the stock steel plate?

Push in the button on the bottom and slide off at the same time. Spring is under pressure and will pop out when removed. Mallet should not be necessary,  but I have seen some tight ones.

Thanks, that worked and was pretty easy.  The rubber pads look and feel much better than the steel ones.

I had problems with these initially too.  The baseplate nipple and floor plate hole don't line up and snap into place like the plastic ones do.

The trick is to use a small screwdriver to move the nipple into place to lock it into the hole.

Once I got the rubber base pad slid over the tabs on the magazine bottom, I pounded the rounded end into a hard surface until it snapped into place.
