P-07 Recoil Spring
« on: December 27, 2015, 12:31:54 AM »
I can do an unloaded table start to first shot in under 2 sec with my SP-01.   I rack from in front of the ejection port.

My P-07 has front cocking serrations, so I expect I'm meant to use them.   If I get lucky and take my time, maybe I can do it half the time.

As I understand it, the stock spring is 20#.   If I get a stainless guide rod and a 14# spring, will the gun run OK with 1100 fps 135 gn self defense ammo?   I'd like to have my defensive and competitive technique as close to the same as I can.
Don't mistake my high post count for knowledge or wisdom.   I just like hearing myself type.

14# recoil spring in the P07/09 is very light.  I have had a few failure to go into battery with a 15# rs.  So for defensive purposes I run 18# RS and HS and I have not had any malfunctions with the set up.  Spring rates will not get you the same reliability between polymer vs steel framed CZ's.

just my 2 cents.
Bro, do you even pew?

I have a 15# in my P-07 Duty with a CGW stainless guide rod. Runs flawlessly with Hornady Critical Defense ammo.

FWIW, I have an 18# in my P-09 because I hated picking up brass 10+ ft away when it ran with a 15# RS. Now they land less than 6ft away.

14 pound recoil spring is toooo light. It may function, but not the best choice. YOu might consider a lighter, (but not too light) hammer spring too.
