More than likely my guess is the gun is brand new. I picked it up yesterday!! Can't wait to fire it. I have already broken it down and cleaned it ready to take to the range this weekend.

However, the slide release is so dang hard to push down. I am assuming it will get easier as I intend to break it in this weekend. Since this is my 1st CZ, is this normal?

I have to push real hard with BOTH thumbs to release the slide. Any comments or suggestion would be very helpful. To answer my own question, my guess is it needs breaking in. BTW, LOVE the gun!!

Some say not to use it.
I have always used the slingshot method. Pull the slide back and let her fly.
On my Ruger 22/45s I have modified them to do the same.

Is the magazine loaded or not?  If not you are fight recoil spring and the magazine spring.  Try it with the magazine removed.

Yup, I'd agree on all points, even the 22/45 mod :D

The extended release and soft springs of my SP01 make it pretty smooth to thumb down the release, but I still slingshot that nearly all the time.

With the RAMI you have to pull the slide back. I hit this issue when I first got mine. I was used to SIG's and just thumbing the slide release down. I thought that my RAMI was broken.

It's just new and tight. Mine was like that when I first got it. Now it works like my other CZ's

Thank you all for your replies. I dry practiced with the gun so I can get familiar with it, henceforth the tough slide release. I agree that the slingshot method may be the way to go, however, I also agree that the slide will be more "user friendly" when I break it in. I had no issues with the full size CZ, however, that was a range gun rental. Either procedure I can and will adapt to and be successful as long as I dry practice (dry fire with snap caps). I believe cntrydawwwg is correct, in time the slide release will loosen up.

But learning both techniques with this gun is a must. It just makes you a better "shooter" overall. Thank you all for your replies and I will give my thoughts and comments on the gun next week after shooting it.

The one thing that I do like about the gun is it is a beautiful and stylistic gun....looks very cool in the hand!!!....LOL

I had the very same issue with my rami. When I did my first clean and lube I used hoppes cleaner and oil (this was before the first shot). After the advice of members here I bought some snap caps and worked it over and over. It was better but not real easy still. After first range visit I decided to nix the hoppes and used the frog lube I put on my p09. Not to start a "what CLP is best" debate but it was night and day after it was all stripped and re-lubed. Now I love frog lube, but I'm not claiming it was FL that did it soley. Maybe a combination of all the above. Long story short-- it will get looser! But then again, now that I think about it, might have been the frog lube.  :P

This is so easy to fix.  On all of my CZ's I polish the slide release where it engages the slide & polish the notch in the slide where the slide stop rubs.  After you do this it will drop with ease.  This also helps with slide drop with mag load.
By the way the  slingshot method is slow, in a gun fight you risk getting shot why you wast time, in competition you lose 3-4 seconds now 10 other competitors that did not use the slingshot method have beat you.

If I intended to use the release that way, I'd put on a shadow slide stop.

I posted a few days ago regarding that the Slide Release on my RAMI was very difficult to release. I just got the gun and I dry practiced with snap caps to get familiar with the gun. I was finally able to take it to the range to start breaking in the gun. Well I wanted to let ALL NEW RAMI owners that the slide release works perfectly fine. I shot about 100 - 200 rounds with all my magazines to test them too. After about 50 rounds there was no issue at all. The slide release will release with the same pressure as any other semi (in my case a Sig P225 and Berretta 92FS). So the difficult slide release is a non issue after about 50 rounds.

Now to my review....WOW!!!! OMG!!! HOLY MOLY BATMAN!! What an AWESOME pistol!! The gun functioned flawlessly! The RAMI will eat and spit out any type of 9MM you feed it! No issues.

Now to my opinion on how easy to shoot and aim the pistol. I am probably an average or below average shooter and my grouping of paper targets is nothing to be proud of. But in my case with the RAMI; my groups on the target were BETTER than the Sig P225 and about the same with the Berretta 92FS. My guess the lower Bore Axis on the RAMI compared to the higher Bore Axis on the Sig P225 was the reason why I shot better than the Sig. I am really impressed with the RAMI. It is IMO the best non-polymer framed Sub-compact out in the market. I am not a polymer framed person as I just don't shoot very well and I have "Limp Wrist" syndrome when I shoot the majority of them. I have NO ISSUES with alloy framed pistols.

To anyone that is looking for a Sub-Compact Pistol...Look no further than the RAMI. It looks sexy, feels great in the hand, functions flawlessly and is really easy to shoot! Additionally, the groups on paper are on par with my Full size gun!

I want to thank everyone here on this site for their input on my slide issue and giving suggestions. Now that it is no longer an issue I am going to enjoy using this pistol for a very long time!

Glad it's meeting your needs!

I had the same experience comparing mine to the 225.  I really want to like the 225 more as it was a much more expensive gun, but I flat out shoot the RAMI much better.

You are so correct. I am thinking of trading in my Sig 225 for another CZ.

FYI.  I replaced the slide release on my RAMI BD with a slide release for a P-01/P-06.  It is a little longer and wider than the stock RAMI slide release, and it works fine, with no modifications.
