Do any of you guys actually shoot like that? With hand on magazine I mean?

Kneeling or sitting (or that guy behind the tree), I get the hand on the mag; but not necessarily in those positions pictured as not most stable... 

Prone doesnt really work IMO as to grip magwell, you're pretty far elevated above the ground, which negates one of the primary reasons for going prone...

That said, I realize the hot handguards do lead to magwell grips on the VZ58...  To minimize that (mal)practice, here's my setup:

-NEA Handguards
-Magpul AFG2
-GoGun GasPedal, aluminum version

At minute 1:20 there is a silenced 58 shooting single shots.  The noise I hear in the film seems to be coming from the Bolt Carrier impacting the rear of the Receiver.  From the recoil and the sound I would think that hard a strike would quickly damage the gun.  Am I correct on this?  Regardless, would a buffer pad be a good idea or is there some reason that wouldn't work?

What are you going to buffer? If your comparing to AKM buffer its apples and oranges.

Some guy out of canada makes buffer for the VZ2008.  Slips behind the striker spring...

Personally, I'd prefer a beefier recoil spring over a buffer as bolt carriers typically aren't supposed to impact rear trunnions (on AKs) or bang into the spring retainer on VZs...  Can't believe the light aluminum top cover would stand up to that bending abuse as long as it would with a stiffer recoil spring.  But I could be wrong.

It would seem that the 58 would be an easy gun to install a buffer.  All they are is a piece of flat plastic that is soft enough to absorb the energy of the carrier/bolt movement at the extreme.

I sure do agree with you about the aluminum Dust Cover being destroyed by an over-gassed Carrier.

We had a chance to play with a buffer add-on for the cz/vz platform.

The buffer can be installed in less than 5min with no tools. Based on our tests with a shot timer the rate of fire increased by 40-50%.

The gentleman that presented these to us also says that it reduces felt recoil; but we don?t find much recoil with the 7.62?39 to begin with and had no objective way to measure it.

Pricey for what it is IMO.  I had previously talked to them about a group buy, but they're relatively limited in their ability to discount.  That said, if there's a lot of interest, I'm happy to explore again and see if we can save a little on shipping...

Once again, you are the man.  If the price were a tad more reasonable I want 3 each.

I think there are a lot of 58's out there that are severely Over-Gassed.  The gun has terrific recoil and cheek slap.  While i think this buffer might tame that recoil that is not the way to do it.  Limiting the gas flow is what is needed.  But, even so, I would want this installed for any hot ammo that found it's way into my mag.

Perhaps you didn't realize that the device has an hole offset from center and is "space-age" Canadian rubber developed and highly tuned specifically for the CZ858.  /sarc  $30 plus shipping. /sarc  It is not to be confused with libbedlubedlubber, for those who had an IBM AT and remember Larry Laffer.
