P-07 over my Glock 19 for daily carry?
« on: February 02, 2016, 10:15:04 PM »
Thinking about picking up a p07 tomorrow.  Found a pretty good trade on a second generation used. Not really sure where the p-07 is going to fit into my collection, but I'm pretty stoked to pick one up nonetheless.  Right now, I run a 75 Shadow SAO in competition and am completely in love with the gun. My daily carry gun is a Glock 19 and has been for years. I'm wondering if any of you have transitioned from striker fire to SA/DA for daily carry and if you have, what are your thoughts?  Even better than that, if anyone has gone from Glock to CZ for concealed carry, how do you like it? Size and weight similar?  As comfortable to carry as a Glock? Sorry for all the new to CZ questions, but I would really appreciate your feedback.

Never owned a Glock but just transitioned from a P07 to a Rami as my CCW. I carried the P07 at 8 o'clock(southpaw) with an extreme cant and able to hide the grip under most of my tshirts. I use a hybrid holster. Love the 15+1 but wanted something smaller. I still carry it when the situation allows. Grips texture bothered me at first rubbing my love handles but I got used to it. I have no ass (tmi) so I adjust every once in a while. The weight is manageable.

Ha, not sure if it was the beer or the wife, but one way or another I completely understand the love handles part.  Worse than the grip texture on the CZ, I've been carrying around a RTF2 glock since they first released them. Leather sweat guards and undershirts have been my friend. Thanks for the input!

I did own a Gen4 G19 and carried it all the time. It was my only pistol. I now own and occasionally carry a P07. The only thing that the Glock 19 has over the P07 is it's slightly lighter weight, IMO. The only reason I don't carry the P07 more is because I also now have an S&W Shield that I carry most of the time.

I've had two Glock 19's in the past, and while I shot them great, they just don't work for me (I've very small hands). The first time I got my hands on a P-07 I was in love. To me, with few exceptions,  it fixed a lot of issues/gripes I have with other pistols.

I wear mine IWB exclusively, and yes, the grip texture can be rough on the love handles lol, but especially on mine since I had all of the smooth portions of the grip stippled. But, I do like others and I simply wear a second t-shirt that gives me a barrier against skin and grip. Problem solved!

There is only one pistol in my collection that gets carried more than the P-07, and that is my CZ 100. That is subject to change in the near future when I get my P-07 back from CZC (I can't speculate on the work being done hahaha).

Here's a few pictures of the last Glock I had next to my current P-07 Duty (pre-stippling):

Great pics, especially of the grip & position of the fingers- very informative. Thanks.

I have a P09 but carry a sig 320 or M&P compact

I carry my G19 most of the time because it has night sights. If my Sphinx had night sights, I would be carrying it a lot more. Same would have been for my P-07 when I owned it. I do shoot my CZs better than my Glock, but the night sights are a requirement for me for a carry piece.

The P-07 is a great carry pistol, better than the Glock in just about every way, aside from the lack of accessories.

I'm right there with you concerning the night sights CDK, and immediately put those on this Duty when I acquired it. Can hardly wait for it to come back from getting it's mods done!

Glad that I could help out! That's what we are here to do [emoji106]

Just in case you, or anybody else didn't notice, that Gen 4 doesn't have any additional backstrap installed, and the only way to make it work for me would be a major grip reduction chop job (along with finger groove removal and a high trigger guard undercut). But, the Gen 3 was even worse!

I carried a Glock 19 for years until I picked up my 07 from a member here last year. I didn't plan to change up, it just happened. I'm better with the 07. I just got my Bravo concealment holster 2 days ago and have been wearing it. Going to the range today for some drawing and firing.
1st time I have been Glockless since the 90's. :D

Thank for the pics.  I feel like I'm looking at two different eras, '80s and 2010.  or another way to look at it is, the Glock is like a stock 4x2 truck whereas the CZ looks like it is off-road ready.

I have an old Glock 17 with trigger upgrade and recoil spring and stainless rod upgrade. For fast shooting, I thought the Glock 17 would always be better. But after practicing with my CGW'd P-07 I have found it is better for carefully aimed shots and the speed with its SA trigger may get better than I can do with the Glock.

I would have to shoot them both a bunch more to know for sure. But I know this much for sure: these are my top 2 9mm shooters!

Oh, and yes, I carry the P-07 a lot now in an IWB Falco holster.
