My new CZ83 Everyday Carry Piece.
« on: February 26, 2016, 05:49:53 PM »
Yippee, at 10:30 AM PST, it was released from Kalifornication DROS Jail.  I picked it up and went immediately to the local indoor range (even though it wasn't "Tuesday, Cops shoot for half price" day).  I had three of my six pre-2000 possessed 13 rounders from my original 1994 vintage CZ93, and the two 10 rounders it came with.

First I checked function of all magazines with some Aquila and S&B ball rounds Four of the 5 functioned flawlessly.  One of my high caps (a well used surplus mag with crossed swords, experienced a FTF on the second to the last round. repeatedly on three magazines full.  The other four were flawless, even with a couple mags of Buffalo Bore's +P flying ashtrays!

The spring, in comparison to the others, is shorter (more degraded), seems a little twisted off center, and is nowhere near as stiff as any of the other magazines.  It will need replaced when someone gets some springs in. NO ONE has them, not CZ-USA, not CZ-Custom, not APEX, not shop Milsurps.com.  Dang!

150 rounds 10 yards: Aquila, S&B, Federal Hydrashock , and 90 grain JHP +P.  I could have wet myself like a happy puppy.  I have missed my CZ83 I had so much.  Now I am cured.

With Allen's GunGlove butt forward IWB holster, it is VERY comfortable, even when driving a vehicle.

I am a VERY happy man...

Thanks.  I REALLY love the "pointability" of this weapon.  For me, it is as if I am pointing my finger at it.  I even did drills where I closed my eyes pointed towards the target with the weapon and opened my eyes. (unloaded weapon).  It was just right there...

I did drift the rear sight over just a tidge, maybe 1/64" or ,01".  Should be right on now.  That firing was done at the rate of about 1.5 to 2 rounds per second.  No less than one shot per second.

Nice pictures nice gun and great shooting.  I am glad a CZ 83 is back in your possession.  The one I purchased the other week did not come with such a nice box it was made in 1992 and came with a Styrofoam box with a paper cover that was a bit worn but it was still nice to have.  Mine of course says since it was made in 1992 made in Czechoslovakia but it is still the same wonderful CZ 83 in 7.65 mm Browning.  Happy shooting. 8)

These Buffalo Bore +P 90 grain HPs remind me of an old, out of print, SPEER Lawman load:  The 45 ACP 200 grain JHP "Flying Ashtray".  It had a somewhat shallow, V shaped hollow point with a large opening. In the 1970s, S&W also made ammo, and they had a 100 grain HP designed specifically for their Model 39 & 59 pistols.  It had the same kind of shallow, v shaped HP with a large opening.

The new issue BB +P should work even better than the bullet they had on the earlier versions with the deep, narrow hollow point.  This one should be impervious to plugging up with heavy clothing.

I have both a CZ 82 and an 83.  I found that with two of my old military surplus magazines, they too had a FTF on the next to last round.
No problems with my factory mags, both full size and California 9-round.
