:)  I wonder if any will ever sneak into the USSA.

Oh my..... I'd LOVE to add that to my firearms collection.  I'd keep it exactly as it is too.

A look at the 858 and 958 exteriors with a glimpse of the modified receiver and top rail attachment. Still no FCG or ejector details.

When will someone at least do a darn field strip and poke a camera in the receiver for us?

Evidently the firearms ere approved for use in Canada.

Thanks for the video link Pete.

After seeing how one needs to remove the top rail via several hex head screws just to field strip the rifle, I've changed my mind; I'm no longer interested with this particular variant.   :P

Unfortunately CDN's have been informed the 958 isn't going to happen. CZ is too busy producing other large orders and doesn't have the resources to allocate to this at this time.

Wow.  Wolverine and their customer base s probably not too pleased about that decision.  I think there may have been a number of people anticipating the commercial offering.

I wouldn't be surprised if CZ outsourced, like they've done w/ most VZ58s for years now -- in which case, to whom (most likely, Czech Small Arms)?

Which also leads to curiosity as to whom all the VZ58s are being sent to?  Large military orders?  Middle East? Eastern Europe?  Africa? Asia? US Military Contractors? Etc?
Am not aware of much VZ58 use in Central or South America.  Believe Cuba had some at some point, but most C/S America weapons tend to be American/NATO castoffs back to WW2 or slightly post, or Kalishnikovs/variants -- a lot flowing through in 70s/80s, and then drug cartels buying a lot of military-grade surplus to present-day standards from the 90s to present (gov't forces obviously largely having current military-grade weaponry as well).

If it's actually CZ making, then it's probably not VZ58-exclusive limiting manufacturing bandwidth, so perhaps less interesting on speculation...

The regular VZ58 is still available in Canada, but it appears not all vendors have them in stock at the moment.
Seems just the 958 Hunter version won't be available at all.

Im not disappointed about this thing not materialising at all, to be honest. That upper "dust cover" is held to the reciever with *allen bolts*, there is no chrome lined barrel option.... Everything about it screams "lazy".  The way our currency is, I could likely get a Norinco M4 with an additional complete upper for the same price as this abortion.

Yeah, I'm ok without the Hunter model too. I like my VZ58 and it runs great.
Also, looks like we will have access to the Chinese Type 81 later this year,  so I'll use the 958 funds for that now. :)
