CZ 75 B SA & Kadet .22 Coversion Kit
« on: March 26, 2002, 10:11:03 PM »
I am looking to get my first handgun.  I have previous exprience with shotguns (quail hunting/clay pigeons), but no handgun.  I am a member of several gun forums and have been doing some research for quite some time.  I have been told to start with a .22, a revolver, and then anything that feels good in my hand.  So I have been looking at (no particular oder) glock 19, beretta 92 (vertec, compact type M), sig 226/228/229/239, H&K USP 9, Ruger P94/95, and others.  At first I thought the CZ's were kind of ugly, but it seems like a lot of people shoot them and they are very affordable.  Anyway I have allotted $600 for my first purchase.  These Kadet conversions seem like I could kill 2 birds with one stone.  I am thinking of getting a CZ 75 B SA and a Kadet conversion kit.  I am not at all familiar with CZ's, so I don't know about the quality, accuracy, and the same for the conversion.  I think I want to go with the single action for a consistant trigger pull and I have no intention to carry right now.  Tell me what you think.  I saw on Gun Broker that a kit was going for $209 NIB, but didn't see any 75 B SA's, but the standard 75 B was about $329, this makes $538, which leaves ~$62 bucks for 500 rds of 9mm (or a split b/t 9mm and .22).  Any comments, advice, or info is greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

I have the kadet and a 75B. I believe this is the best way to go because you can practice with .22lr on the same pistol grip and trigger press as the 9mm. Besides that, you can get 9mm hicaps from VonFatman in the Classifieds forum for $35+shipping. I don't think that can be said for any of the other guns you mentioned.

Concerning the consistent trigger press, the 75B non SA can be shot SA only and carried cocked and locked. You should go to the SA forum and read or ask how much better the SA trigger is over the standard 75B. I have not handled an SA.

Concerning aestitics, I prefer the 75B over the SA model.

Have you been able to shoot the 75B yet? Most people perfer the ergonomics to other makes. I also prefer steel to plastic guns.

One more thing, part of that $62 will have to go to shipping and FFL transfer fee. Still, you will have two high quality and accurate guns for less than the price of almost every gun you listed.

Boiler - I have the CZ 75B and love the gun.  It is my second CZ (I also have a CZ 52).  I purchased the Kadet kit and out of the box it fit without any modification.  Put 200+ .22lr through it first time out without any types of feed or eject problems.

I shoot the Bulk 9mm ball from the department store without any feed problems.

I am sold on CZ, and see a 83 in 9x18, and a 97b in my very near future.

You can't go wrong with the CZ decision IMHO.

You are gonna love it (them).
I have a 75B converted to SA only and my Kadet kit works great!
            Have fun!
