Removing disco w/ SAO conversion on SP-01 Shadow
« on: April 21, 2016, 02:17:32 PM »
Seems some people remove it and I'm reading that a lot of people just leave the disco in? Is it necessary spend the additional time tearing it down to remove the disco if it ins't necessary?

Really just depends how picky you are about the trigger. If you want the best trigger possible than yes it needs to go is it that nig of a deal either way? No.

Hm, I see. Can you elaborate anymore? Just curious as to what exactly the adverse affects are of keeping it in as well as what the benefits are of taking it out.

It's just removing something that is rubbing, even slightly on another part.

If I were doing a SA conversion, I would order an upgraded hammer and sear and hammer strut so as to be an easy switch back to original.  Leave the hammer, disco and strut all in one unit, and store with FPB parts.  Get the spacer for the sear cage and remove the FPB and lifter.  Get a trigger with pre and over travel adjusters.

At that level of disassembly, pulling the hammer and pushing the pin that holds the disconnector is maybe 10 minutes tops. I polished everything while I was in there, even things that would be felt on the DA pull like the hammer strut. If I ever go back(doubtful), it's already done. Even with the CZC comp hammer I have a little creep, no way I would have liked it with an OEM hammer. JRR, the Shadow doesn't have a fpb, so no worries there.

I just completed a single action conversion on my Shadow last weekend and the removed the disco. As has been said, it's easy to put it back if I ever return it to DA/SA configuration. I doubt I will, because this is going to be my ESP gun. Also, I have two Tac Sports that will be used for 3 gun and I want the triggers on all three guns to be similar.

Thanks everyone. How hard it was to take down wasn't a concern. I've taken down just about every popular pistol on the market due to my job. I was just going to leave it in on my personal gun if it didn't hurt anything, but it seems like the general concensus is to remove it.
