CZ?
« on: February 02, 2017, 05:25:04 PM »
I purchased a Beretta 81 Cheetah(wow it shoots great and is accurate because of the way I shoot)so now I am considering a CZ 7.65mm. I would like your honest opinions on you experience with yours, how it shoots and ammo use. I really like the 7.65 platform.

My CZ52 uses 7.62x25mm ammo.  If that's what you meant, I really like it a lot.

The Cheetah is .32 ACP. You would be looking for a CZ Vzor 50 or 70. I have a Vzor 70.

Don't have an 81 but do enjoy the 85 FS platform in .380. The Beretta is probably the "softest" shooting among the equivalent caliber of the CZ 83 and SIG P230 for me. The drawback to the Beretta's design profile is that it's not easy to grab the slide for racking. It's too bad the CZ 83 in 7.65mm is not easy to find at decent prices. . The Vz. 50/70 are nice shooting pistols but won't obviously compare with the 81 with a bit more bite and crude sights. An enjoyable 7.65mm shooter is the Vz. 27 with the SA although magazine changes can be a chore and it has an almost vertical grip angle. There's also the classic Walther PP in 7.65mm. Your post makes me want to set up a 7.65mm range day!

I have the PP and PPK/S in .380 and I am also considering getting an 84 as well.

I have a 50 and a 70 and both are great little back up guns. I own quite a few WW2 .32's also. If you are a fan of the .32acp, either would be fine. They are both technically the same. The 50 is C&R which has its advantages as far as price, paper work and collectibility. You should have no problem picking up either.

83 in .32 is the only gun I have had sellers remorse on. Have a few others in .32 but only one shoots as well as my 83 did and it's a $850 Colt 1903 and even it doesn't feel as good in the hand IMO.

When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

I have a 1970 VZ 50 in very good condition. I replaced the aftermarket grips it had, with a set of NOS bakelite grips from e-bay.

It's now one of my favorite pistols. I've put several new shooters behind it, including kids above 12 years of age, and it was only too snappy for one 21 year old.

I'll never carry it, but it is about the only blued gun that I regularly take on road trips.

Makes a great 'trunk' gun. At around $200 or so, not a big loss if stolen. Very reliable even with US made 32 acp's.
