Hogue Finger Grips?
« on: December 01, 2016, 04:57:21 PM »
Hogue Grip? Anyone successfully managed to stretch the Hogue finger grip around their 97B frame and actually get both grip screws back in? I have tried boiling the grips to soften them to no avail. I don't need much, but what I need I can't get :P Please share your method.

I have the 97BD with the Hogue wrap around grips installed. It's really not that hard. All I did was put a little gun oil on the inside of each side of the grip itself as well on each side of the grip frame. Get one side on with the screw partially inserted. I then got my heat gun and on low setting applied heat to the finger grooves. I only had the heat on the grooves for no longer than 30 seconds at a time. You just need to work it and it will stretch and go on. Just need a little patience.

Just a word of caution: You need to sand off the inside panels on each side of the Hogue grip to allow the magazines to drop free. Ask me how I know. Hope this post helps you.

Below is a pic with the Hogue wrap around on my 97.

Mine was a little tighter, I had to use my cigar torch lighter to get it real hot to stretch it.

Hi,

I'd like to try it out.  Do you order the model for the CZ 75 to go on the 97B?

Thanks,
Dave

Yes that's the one. It's model number 75000. Go to ebay and purchase this grip. You canget one for around $21 w/free shipping. Let us know what you think once you get it on.

Shot my 97b with the Hogue finger grips today.  It's a big improvement for me over the stock grips and made a notable difference in reducing felt recoil for me.  Thanks guys for bringing those to my attention.

I'm really glad the Hogue wrap around grips work for you. I have them on my 97, SP-01 Tact, 75b SA and SP-01 Accu Shadow, and for me they feel great. Putting them on my 97 I was kind of concerned because of the bigger grip frame, but they feel awesome in the hand.

Right, I shoot them exclusively on my revolvers...and I'm mostly a revolver shooter.  So, the feel is natural.

There were some very good tips in this thread about how to install and sanding the bottom.  Worked like a charm.  I'm was considering ordering the Nills grips but the $20 hogues are perfect.

Thanks for the tips.
