Retaining suppressor thread cap
« on: June 23, 2016, 09:26:02 PM »
Got a new urban gray P01, very accurate an comfortable.

It features a threaded barrel for a suppressor and there is a cap to protect the threads.

After every magazine the cap is loose even though it is tightened every time (no tools) just cranked by hand.

I thought maybe an O-ring inside the cap may allow me to crank it very tight with compression added by the O-ring.

Any suggestions for keeping the cap always tight?

Viton o-rings, high temp and chemical resistant.  Here is what I use (coincidently these are the same size used on SilencerCo rimfire cans).  PM me you address and I'd be more than happy to drop a few in an envelope to you (I have a few ;) ), they last forever when used to retain a thread protector.

What size do you get? That Amazon has a lot of options.

Since I'm already ordering the 013 for the SilencerCo cans, that's what I use.  Have not had any issues with them so far.

Haven't had any luck with the o rings. The barrel doesn't really have a shoulder to have the o ring compress. The o ring ends up on the barrel rather than between the thread protector and the threads.

Most of mine don't either, but I've found if i push the o-ring towards the last thread the cap will engage it with a least a turn or two left.  Thing is I don't have to snug the cap up to the end of the threads, rather leave it backed off a half turn or so.  The resistance from the o-ring is enough to keep it from backing off while shooting.
