Even with a turret or single stage press,  the same support discussed above helps improve load consistency noticeably.   You'll read how important a consistent press handle pull is to have consistent results.  If the press flexes on any plane,  a perfect pull won't get perfect results.

My turret press is on a home made strong base with a 3/8" steel T-shaped base mounted with 3/8" through bolts.  This is bolted to my small bench and supported directly under the press  by a post to the concrete floor..  The rest of the bench top is just 2x4 egg-crate structure with corner posts,  a couple of drawers and cabinets doors with face-frame construction.
