P07 Duty Slide Lock Issues
« on: May 07, 2016, 02:59:06 AM »
I bought a new to me P07 Duty in the B75xxxx serial range recently, and have been getting some odd issues. The slide will lock back occasionally with ammo still in the mag. It's either multiple times per mag or every other mag. The gun came with 3 matte black 9mm mags and the malfunctions happen with all mags. I read that the rounds could be bumping the slide stop up when cycling, which looks to be the case. There's copper marks on the slide stop.

I sent an email to CZ addressing the issue and they sent me a Fed Ex label the next day. I'll send it out tomorrow and we'll see if it's fixed. I think I had this same issue with my first P07 a couple of years ago, but it was so rare that I paid it no attention.

Hello!

I guess you are right the ammo better said the bullet shape causes this malfuntion. The copper marks indicate this a lot.
I had this with my .45 and found out it happens with Geco roundnose. What me wonders is the fact Geso has obviously the same shape and lenght like other brands hardballer like MagTec but with these everything is working nice.
So I would say switch to other ammo or if reloading chance depth of bullet setting or bullet shape.
The final solution may be to grind off a tiny amount of the slide stop at the point where it meeis the bullet but not too much not to reduce.
I:m sure the CZ guys would do the same with just some file strokes.

Best regards
Mathi

I was using 115 gr Federal Champion and 115 gr American Eagle. Probably the most optimal shape I would think.

Usually there are 3 main causes of this. The bullet nose contacts the slide stop in which case the slide stop can be modified. The slide stop spring can be weak and need adjustment or replacement and sometimes the shooter unintentionally engages the slide stop during firing. Shooting one handed will easily diagnose the latter.

Yeah I ruled myself out. I made a point to not make contact with the slide stop while shooting and it would still go off. I guess CZ will figure out if it's the spring or the actual stop.

I had the exact thing happen to me. Sent it back to CZ and they shaved the slide lock a hair and it runs like a champ! Got great response from cs and quick turnaround.

I never had the issue but I've read of it here in the past.

When I got my P09 I pulled the slide stop out of it and the P07 and they were definitely shaped differently where the magazine follower contacts it.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

My gen2 P-07 came out of the box running flawlessly and continues to do so. My steel frame 75 compact came out of the box running fine as well but would go into slide lock at random with no real pattern. Maybe every 10 rounds sometimes every 30 or 40 rounds. I removed the slide stop spring and put a tad more tension on it and over 4k rounds later it's still flawless.

CZ overnighted my pistol back to me on Friday. They ground down and polished the slide catch to clear the rounds. Should be smooth sailing now!

I put 16 rounds of 124 gr +p Gold Dots through it pretty quick, and no more lock back problems. Another 100 rounds through it should verify 8)
