You know I had to try it.. 300 yards with four pistols.
« on: June 04, 2016, 08:36:20 PM »
I made a quick trip this morning to sight in my .17 HMR and maybe shoot a few ground squirrels.
The heat was getting pretty bad so I decided not to stay out long but I had to see if I could do this one time with each pistol of four pistols. Three are CZ's.
I averaged a hit with each between the 9th and 11 shots, except the Buck Mark, which hit on the second shot after a long string of malfunctions in between..
I'm no better than the average guy up close and on two legs but these long distance challenges have been a lot of fun for me and I've really enjoyed it. I probably won't post any more of these benched pistol shooting videos but I thought I'd share one more.

"No more benched pistol shooting" ? You could push it to 350!  ;D What was your approximate hold over with the different pistols? I am not sure doing it with the RAMI was necessary.  ;D

Thank you for the video.

Not sure how to calculate the hold. I keep the top of the front sight on the top edge of the target and lower the rear and adjust up or down based on where I'm hitting. It's different for each gun. The Shadow has a 7mm fiber optic front sight and I was holding 90% of it above the rear sight. Joe L might know since he has done the calculations for an aim point above the target with the red dot at 200 yards. With open sights I just wing it and adjust as I go.

Well, winging it seams to be working so far.
