Different mm front sight height?
« on: June 02, 2016, 11:25:33 AM »
I'm no competition guy, so I'm just looking for some good replacement sites for my P07. I was checking cz custom and there are so many different front site heights just curious what is about standard and does a 6.0 mm vs a 5.0 mm front site matter much or is it going to change things dramatically going from factory? Also I like a black rear or maybe i dot for my rear but depending on front site mm height I'm sure this affects rear site height after some level?

The front sight height will definitely change where the bullet strikes the target on the vertical plane - lower will make gun shoot higher and higher will make gun shoot lower. If you like where it shoots now, get the same front sight height. Check out Dawson Precision as they have a variety of heights (and widths) to choose from and there is a formula to figure out what height to get depending on the distance you want to sight it in at. One PTA is you may need to remove the front sight to find out which one you have (I think 5mm is standard from factory, but double check). Also, Dawsons may measure heights differently than CZ...

- You can only fight the way you practice.
- If you do not control the enemy, the enemy will control you.

I all most always shoot 124gr ammo, either for carry loads or reloads I do, so I'll just have to check if a certain height is more ideally suited for that or not.
