"Upgraded" To the Gen 2 P-07
« on: June 22, 2016, 12:42:26 AM »
I've been a proud owner of a OD Green P-07 Duty since 2012. Love that thing. I like most people here, would trust my life to that gun. Then I saw a deal for the newer non-duty P-07 and I said, what the heck. I saw the article about the differences, and locally here there weren't any places that carried the newer P-07, but plenty had P-09s.

Ol' green with the new black beauty (still working on names)

I've kept my CZ stock, and always thought of tinkering with parts but never got around to it, end up putting money towards AR stuff, but I know for most, the differences between this gen1 and gen2 could be had via custom work. the metal sights, newer hammer design, the trigger shape etc. I do like the nitrated finish on the gen 2 model, and I think that's what really pushed me over the most, that and the 3 dot metal sights. I like the extras such as forward serrations, key for sights and the backstraps.

Side by side, the newer one has a smoother trigger pull in SA, but Green has the nicer DA, prolly from the years of rounds breaking it in. The newer magazines have the glock style counter on the backside and work nice. The installed small backstrap is comfortable but maybe a little smaller than Green, I wear medium in Mechnix gloves. So green feels better to hold, but it could be a mental/psychological thing. I'll need a third party to compare for me. The plastic case, are the same though. =)

I put 200 rounds today through black beauty, I didn't bring green with me to shoot them side by side, which I will do next time. 200 rds went by without a hiccup. The only issue appears to be me and my skill, or lack there of. LOL. The white dots of the gen2 arent more off-white and dull compared to the white box and dot of green. Even so, that doesn't excuse my poor results with the gen2. Mine came with the no. 3 sights, I assume cuz the front says 3 on it. I'll need to get more time and adjust to the sight picture and the gun. Overall, I'm happy, but the same time, a little dishearten that I will have to let Green go. (I know, why not keep both?!). I'm itching to get back into the CZ75B club and my dad and brother are slowly converting me into the 1911 club, so only one P07 gets to stay!

Have anyone else transitioned to the gen2 from gen1? Any thoughts or shares that I may find useful? Anyways, thanks guys.

No, I bought the Gen 2 right after they came out. I would have not had a problem with the earlier one as I change sights anyway but the prices were so close together I went with the newer.

My P-07 has been great for me. I won my division two years in a row shooting it. I did change out some springs and parts from CGW that I do to all my CZ's.

They are really underrated guns in my opinion.

Enjoy yours!

Congratulations! Are you really sure that you want to sell your duty? Maybe you can keep it in the family since you Father and Brother are shooters too. That way you can still shoot it sometime if you go into withdrawal ;)

I bought a P-09 thinking it would just be a good test for a full size polymer pistol.  I wound up loving the pistol as it is consistently the best long range shooter of my pile of pistols.  So I bought a second one.  Same thing.  Accurate, reliable.  So I bought a P-07 thinking it couldn't possibly be as good as the P-09's.  Wrong.  Excellent firearm, even out to 100 yards.  I shot a local bullseye match with it and had the high score (among some people that really needed to practice).  My score was just a few points lower than what I would have shot with my CZ-97.  Next I put some of the CGW night sights on it and it is in the carry/instructor/home defense rotation now, retired from bullseye matches (while I was ahead).
