So much fun with the P-01 - Trigger Bar Spring
« on: July 09, 2016, 05:56:57 PM »
Noticed something interesting while cleaning the P-01 today, that on the left side, the trigger bar spring had slipped off the trigger bar towards the magazine well. The magazine then must have caught it, and bent the spring inward. This would also explain the magazine insertion hang ups I've gotten from time to time.

I'm not sure how long it's been like this without me noticing, but it's gone at least a 200 rounds that way, and no malfunctions.

Kudos to CZs for reliability - if anyone was wondering if a P-01 would run with half a trigger bar spring, the answer is apparently yes! In my case though, I'm putting the P-01 on leave until I fix it.

So I've got a new trigger bar spring on order (nothing like spending 3x the cost of a part in shipping!). Unfortunately, thanks to Automatic Accuracy's bungle, the sear pin is staked.

Does anyone have a recommendation for something to use as a slave pin that won't damage the staked aluminum? A toothpick maybe?

Man, you just can't seem to win with this particular gun. When I saw Schmeky's thread on his solution for staking a bungled sear pin hole, I thought for sure it was your gun. I know some have made slave pins out of cut down Q-tips, a toothpick may be small enough to clear the staked hole. You could also find an old drill bit and cut it to length. I have Schmeky's slave pin for mine but not sure it would clear the staking on yours. Good luck getting your gun fixed up, it deserved better.

Thanks for the suggestions Earl - I've got Schmeky's slave pin as well but it unfortunately won't clear the staking. If the Q-tip or toothpick doesn't work, the drill bit thing is a good idea.

It is too bad - it's a great little pistol but it could be worse! Despite these troubles, I'd still love to pick up another one.

Schmeky's solution for fixing the sear pin hole looks very promising - I might be giving him a call before long to see if he can work his magic. I know a local smith who may be able to do it, but matching the factory polycoat would be an issue.
