P07 mag extension installation?
« on: July 12, 2016, 07:01:02 PM »
I am having a tough time finding info about the proper installation of the plus 2 magazine base plate extension for the P07 (P09).  My question is, after taking the stock base pate off, do I remove the plastic piece attached to the bottom of the mag spring?  I'm able to get the plus 2 extension base plate on without removing it, but I'm not sure if that's correct.  I'm also able to get 17 rounds in after installation, and it functions fine.  However, I'm concerned about long term issues with a potentially improper installation.  I watched the Youtube video by Derek Herbst on fitting the base plate on correctly, and he has a good close-up where the plastic base on the spring isn't there - just the metal piece that comes with the extension.

Take the plastic piece out of the spring end. Thread the spring end into the tiny ring / dimple on the metal piece.

I left the plastic base in place on mine and have had no issues.  Not saying I won't, though - now that I said that ;-)
