Picking a compact?
« on: July 21, 2016, 01:22:23 AM »
Where I live on t is difficult to fondle any CZ's so for those of you in the know I have a few questions. I'm looking at picking up a SP-01 shadow SAO for pure range use mostly because the trigger shapes on standard CZ's bite me at the base of my finger near the bottom of the trigger guard. This leads me to wonder about the P01 vs the P01 Omega. I have a P07 which I love just but I need more CZ's, I have developed an addiction! So which would be the better in regards to the trigger shape and magazine compatibility, I'm not sure if the new omega takes regular CZ mags or not. Thanks all ahead of time, any help is always appreciated as I think this is probably the best online gun forum by far.

I don't like curve of some of the CZ triggers either. I replaced the recurve triggers and the serrated trigger in my PCR with the old style CZ thick trigger. Many also like to use the 85C trigger to alleviate the bite/sting.

With respect to the classic P-01 and the P-01 Omega versions and magazine compatibility, the difference is in the internal trigger design and does not impact the magazine used. Keep in mind also that the Omega comes with a couple of trigger types. It's the latest 2016 version with  the Convertible (Omega) designation and operating lever that has the trigger profile which looks similar to the P-07's. As stated above, you have several trigger style options with the classic P-01. Unfortunately, that doesn't help with your situation of not being able to get a feel for them.
The Convertible Omega trigger feels fine with me except for a minor perception of having a slightly longer reach over the the so-called black recurve trigger that comes standard on most P-01s (I don't experience trigger bite). Best wishes on your quest.

Reed:
Welcome to the Forum
Not sure what you mean when you say "I'm not sure if the new omega takes regular CZ mags or not"
Regular Compact Mags or regular 75 / HiCap (15+) Mags ?
If you're looking for 15+ Rounds Mags, you need to find yourself a Semi Compact or a Massada
These are Full Sized Frames with Compact Uppers
And with this set-up, you can go with just about any (aftermarket) Trigger you like
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what's coming after HIM !

Thank you for this. Do you think that the minor perception you have about trigger reach would affect me? As an example I have the large backstrap on my P07 and have some extra space in the palm where the grip doesn't fill it up. Or in other words I have had no reach problems on a beretta even with hogue grips.

Obviously, I can't speak for your "reach" but if you're using the large backstrap on the P-07 you might not notice it as I use the med backstrap on the P-07....and you use a Hogue on a Beretta too! This is how I saw and perceived the trigger reach on a P-01 with recurve trigger and a Convertible Omega.
