New CZ RAMI Observation
« on: September 01, 2016, 05:51:51 AM »
I finally received my first CZ pistol. The RAMI BD 9mm feels much beefier than my Sig P320 or my XDS-45. I think I'm going to like it, a lot. After cleaning the CZ for the first time I noticed how the inside of the slide was not as smoothly finished as my other two pistols. Even my Hoppes cleaning patches snagged on the seemingly rougher inside of the slide. Whereas the Sig slide feels smooth and polished and has never snagged on a cleaning patch.

I was wondering if that's normal and if other RAMI owners noticed this. If so, did you polish the inside of the slide? I will shoot the CZ for the first time on 9/2/16.

As long as it is smooth where the slide meets the rails it's OK. Polishing won't hurt though. I have not experienced the roughness in any of my CZs on the slide. You can call customer service and explain it to them and see what that say. I have noticed that the inside front end of the lower might not be be finished like the rear.

Update on my RAMI - I took it to the range today since I couldn't wait two whole days without knowing how it fires. I shot 100 rounds at 5 yd., 7 yd., and 15 yd. targets. I  was somewhat surprised at how long the D/A trigger pull was and the amount of over travel after the shot fired. The reset was okay and it had a minimum travel for the second shot. I was thinking the de-cocker would reduce the trigger travel but it does not. You just don't have the heavy long pull as in the true D/A mode but it is still a long travel.

Shots were decent for the first time with grouping ranging from about 4" to 8". My Sig gives me 2" to 3" groups but I have shot over 1,400 rounds through the P320. In the past I have only shot SAO or striker fired pistols and I am going to have to do some considerable training with the CZ before I would be comfortable depending on it as a self-defense weapon.

Thanks Firemanjones for your reply and I think I will give CZ CS a call about the slide.

Maybe a few pics of the slide would give the forum guys a better idea about the machining.

TNman Check out cajungunworks.com
There's lots of modifications for these guns to improve the trigger. It'll help you tighten up those groups.

Just got off the phone with CZ Warranty. Sent photos and they said it was just normal machine marks and as long as it is properly lubed the slide should function correctly. If it doesn't the  call them back.

For a relatively inexpensive upgrade, get the firing pin, firing pin spring, firing pin stop spring and a 13# hammer spring. Later if it not great after shooting a few hundred rounds, you can get the trigger spring, hammer and 85 combat trigger.
