WOW CZ Czechmate Parrot 9mm
« on: March 03, 2019, 09:28:01 AM »
Well today was the best CZ day of my life so far. Stopped at the local gun shop today(can't stay away) and they had just got in and sold right away a CZ Parrot. Got to handle it(know the guy very well) and WOW what a gun. The trigger is outstanding 1.3 LBS and the c-more sight is also a well added feature to the gun. I can say now that I have seen one and handled one but that is as far as I will get. Price $3099.99 plus tax, if only I was not retired.  >:(

I was in a gun shop last year that had a Czechmate Parrot in the case. Didn't want to handle it because I knew I'd want it and I really can't afford the $3500 price they wanted (full MSRP). Makes a Shadow 2 or a TSO seem like a bargain.

My LGS just received one this week also! What a sweet pistol. I was going to go for it, but knew I?d want to sell a couple of my other CZ?s to offset the cost, and since I currently don?t reload, I was worried about finding a cost-effective round to properly cycle it with the comp on, because I knew if I bought it, I?d shoot it non-stop. The cost, and the cost of finding something to throw down it regularly put the brakes on the purchase for me. I figured it would need a good 150+ PF if not 160 to run right.

I also realized I could buy a Bren 2, and every P10 model/configuration for the same money or less. Hell of a pistol, just a little out of reach when I took everything into consideration.

I asked him when the last time he received a parrot, he never had before (and he gets lots of sweet CZ candy) $3,199.
I’ve got a few CZ’s...

Enjoy retirement, I would love to "test hold" a parrot.

A parrot is nothing but a ?colored? czechmate. My TSO and regular czechmate has the same trigger pull weight like the parrots.

I load 6.64 Gr CFE pistol with 124 Gr Precision Delta JHP at 1.150-1.152 for a 171 power factor on my czechmate using a 9# recoil spring. Shoots really nice and works the compensator.

Gee, for $3,500 you could almost buy a Shadow 2 and a TSO both. Is the Czechmate really that much better than it's lowly brothers?

Accuracy, no. They?re all about the same in accuracy. Actually, my TSO is the most accurate among the three.

What you?re paying more for the Czechmate is the additional barrel for limited setup, the compensator, cmore slideride optics, cmore optic mount and the extra 26 round magazine.

With the 2 barrel setup that comes with the czechmate, you can ran it in limited division or open division in USPSA using the compensator and optics along with major power factor ammo.

Ok, that helps me to understand. You're buying the extras with the gun, not a more accurate better built gun.

My point of this topic was not about how much better it is then the TSO, shadow2 or the Czechmate or the accuracy, these are all superb gun. My point was how many average people get to see a Czechmate or Parrot in person and be able to put it in your hands and pull the trigger. My local shop has had 4 TSO thus far (Nov 18 through Fedurary) and I had a chance to buy one but really had no use for the single action and bought the CZ SP-01 shadow target 2 instead. I only shoot for fun and self defence and the DA/SA are my go to guns. This may be my only chance to see and handle one of these master pieces. I love these CZ.   ;D

I understand your point, it would be a privilege to see and hold a Parrott. I've only see the pictures of one, probably will never have the opportunity to actually hold one, you are indeed fortunate to have the experience. Sorry, I did not mean to imply that you were considering the Parrott's value. I was just thinking out loud. Obviously CZ marketing thinks it is worth the extra $$ over their other models. You and I are the same on CZ's, TSO's are wonderful guns but I'm not a competition shooter, just paper puncher and plinker. A DA/SA fun gun meets my needs better so I have a Shadow 2. I love CZ's as well but also love about every gun I've ever met, some more than others. Be safe :)

You can actually convert a regular czecmate to a parrot by by buying the colored parts like magwell, optic mount, grips etc from armory craft and then install it on the regular czechmate.

I understand OPs main reasoning for the post. I actually have to wait for the regular Czechmate to be in stock since most of the high end CZs like the Parrot, czecmate and TSOs comes in batches.

Hiya whitetail hunter and thx for the thread. Seeing that ya know the bloke real well I'm sure you can arrange to shoot together sometime and test drive it. I didn't have my checkmate when I'd brought my tactical sport out to shoot with larry flew and armoredman few years back, and they were impressed with that 2lb wish trigger. But now retired may have to consider selling the beloved checkmate, and assure you it won't command near the selling price. Being a paper shooter mostly I didn't care for the red dot much, and needed to have Czc fabricate a blade, front sight so I can enjoy shooting it without the optics, so that was in addition to the retail price. And seeing I preferred the TS rear sight, that was another additional cost to not run the checkmates competition rear sight. To the operator concerned with running walmart federal 115gr, it runs flawless, if you instal a 6lb main spring. It coe with a adaptor so you can run it without the compensator, I never have. As I own a TS ,which I feel is functionally a checkmate without a compensator.
But to run it with compensator its apples to oranges and a lot of fun to shoot the limited production pistol. The recoil is noticeably less and the balance similar to a 9mm with a can on it. Even for just my recreational use its fun to shoot and hope cz keeps it in their line up for years to come. Cheers.
