cz-83 recoil spring
« on: August 01, 2016, 10:26:13 PM »
I just took my gunbroker cz-83 to the range and it shot perfectly. No ftf or fte. One question is that it seems as if the recoil spring that was supplied is very heavy. Both my friend and I thought the spring was very strong for a 380 blowback gun. He was shooting a Kimber 45 and I also had my beretta 9mm, on both guns racking the slide easier than on the cz-83.

Any suggestions for checking on the spring spec's?

It's fine, it will ease up with use.  As long as it fires without issue, don't worry about it.

I thought the same thing about the recoil spring being too strong. I find it easier to rack the slide, if I cock the hammer first. My CZ-83 is new, works perfect, is accurate, and well made.
My gut feeling is not to tamper with what works by changing to a softer after market recoil spring.
CZ-83, CZ-75D PCR, finally, a CZ Rami 9mm
Sure, I'd like to be young again, if it didn't come with such a big dose of stupid.

If it's used, it's entirely possible it has a stronger spring than stock. I've got the stoutest spring Wolff sells in my 82, to tame the snappy recoil (at the expense of being harder to work the slide).

You may consider buying and replacing major springs with new factory standard...especially if it's LE or Mil surp...a quick and inexpensive overhaul.
