Height of Rami front sight with adjustable rear sight?
« on: July 26, 2016, 04:28:04 PM »
Hi everyone,

I have a question on the old style Rami's that came from the factory with an adjustable rear sight.  Does anyone know the height of the front sight that was used?  I called the factory and they didn't know.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave, Don't know for sure what "old style" is but mine is a 2013 with a factory adjustable rear sight. I measured the front sight from the top of the slide and came up with 7/64.

Excellent, thank you.  That's a short front sight.  My hope is to get Dawson Precision to make a fiber optic front sight.  When I called Dawson a while back they said the shortest fiber optic front sight they could do would be .110 or .115 tall.  If my thinking is correct it might be possible.

With such a short front sight I wonder what the sight picture is like?  When you have your sights lined up properly, do you also see the top of your slide in the sight picture...because the front sight is so low?

Thanks,
Dave

You could take my word for it because this photo sucks, but I don't see the slide in the sight picture. It wouldn't take much movement to see the slide, but then your aim would be pretty high. My front sight measures is actually 0.111.   7/64 is 0.1094

Excellent, thanks for the photo.  That looks like a good sight picture.
