922r parts kit question
« on: September 23, 2016, 09:47:57 AM »
My buddy got the new parts kit and I noticed that the trigger parts and muzzle device do not say USA on them?   How would they know if you ever changed those parts out?

Has anyone ever heard of anyone actually getting checked for the proper USA made parts?

That is the million dollar question. If there are examples we can learn from, that would be great! Any case studies out there?

However, the extent we see in today's society of non-enforcement of federal law is no solace. If the SHTF you'd best be able to defend yourself with proper documentation (keeping receipts, documentation and paper trails) in the absence of physical parts' designation. That and keeping fingers crossed it never comes to fruition.

That is my pedestrian perspective.

You can read countless times on many different online forums about nobody ever being convicted (or charged?) for a 922r compliance violation.
-Form 1 filed 11/15, approved 3/16
-HBI AK safety lever
-HBI left side safety delete
-HBI Duckbill magazine release
-HBI Delta extended charging handle
-HBI Theta trigger shoe
-CZC trigger pack
-CZC upgraded disconnector
-CZC trigger job 3#
-CZC Zhukov adapter and stock
-Yetiwurks Switchback

Can you tell the two parts from one another? Chances are that someone at ATF can, too. Meaning, some dude, parked in a dark corner of the pattern room could probably do so.

Whether your average field agent could is another story.

Being prosecuted for a 922r violation, in the absence of another, more serious crime, is yet another story.

The parts are identical, both with no markings.  The grip and mag plates do have US stamped on them.

The parts are not identical. Comparing my CZUB and US parts, I see the following:

The US trigger shoe has a closed box where the metal stub of the trigger enters it which is fixed with the roll pin. The CZUB version has a open-back channel. It also has a numeral, '2' molded into the flat on the left side, which is visible when assembled.

The CZUB disconnector has a small change in width on the left side, resulting in a step that runs top/bottom. The US version does not change width and the portion that catches the hammer is noticeably wider.

The muzzle device is very close. To me, only the finish is different, with the CZUB version being a bit shinier.

The difference in the muzzle device is on the front face. On the CZUS device it has a channel that runs around the opening on the end. The UB device is flat.

You are right, I guess it's a good thing I asked.   Couldn't really tell till I took it apart.
