Very nice barrel, quality wise. I haven't shot it yet as I'm waiting on my stamp to come back to convert my carbine to SBR using this barrel.

So what is it about this barrel that makes it so good, quality wise?

Appears to be very well machined and finished (as compared to the factory barrel). That said I have no complaints regarding the factory barrel, just more aesthetically pleasing. Time will tell once I am able to install/shoot the barrel.

Don't forget the specs

Stock CZ barrel = cold hammer forged

CZ Custom barrel = button rifling

I'm pretty sure the only firearms that I own which are button rifled are my .22's

Agreed. I do like CHF simply because that process historically produces less defects (repeatability), but that only matters if your design and build works in the first place, otherwise you're building identical barrels that all suck.

As far as button rifling, I wouldn't count that out. Hell even criterion barrels are technically button rifled.

Guess what I'm looking for is someone who has the barrel and shot rounds through it, that's all.  I like alot of the stuff on CZS site, but it's all expensive; and without any credibility (from what I understand).

Otherwise I'll probably send my barrel out to be threaded.

Appreciate the discussion produced so far, thanks guys.

But has anyone out there fired rounds through this barrel ? have accuracy report ?

CHF = durability

Button = accuracy

At least on paper...
-Form 1 filed 11/15, approved 3/16
-HBI AK safety lever
-HBI left side safety delete
-HBI Duckbill magazine release
-HBI Delta extended charging handle
-HBI Theta trigger shoe
-CZC trigger pack
-CZC upgraded disconnector
-CZC trigger job 3#
-CZC Zhukov adapter and stock
-Yetiwurks Switchback

Very accurate, equal to factory barrel. Threads are well done with proper relief and shoulder. You will have to remove old barrel from the fixation and fit the new barrel to it or buy a new fixation. Its 922 compliant. Good luck whichever way you go.

How do you remove the barrel from the fixation (trunion)? Is it press fitted with a hydraulic press or screwed in?

What's involved with installing the new barrel? Headspacing, alignment, torque spec, staking the trunion to the barrel?

From the website

Quote
FITTING
Barrel will need to be fitted to a Barrel Fixation, (shown below and not included) Factory barrels are already torqued into the fixation and staked.

Installation cost in addition to price of new barrel.
Send your fixation $60 and shipping
Send your barrel for us to remove from your fixation and fit new barrel $100 and shipping
Send your Scorpion EVO to fit new barrel $200 and shipping ( will need to ship Fed Ex or UPS)

I'm guessing this is for installing a pistol barrel onto a carbine.
Soooo, you'll need the $100 extended socket to remove the barrel nut
Then you'll have to remove the barrel from the trunion, which is probably bonded with loctite and staked.
Or you can send in your rifle and pay them $200 in labor to do everything for you.
Don't forget the cost of the barrel itself which is about $187 if I remember correctly.
Then the cost for mailing both ways.
That comes out to be over $400. That's about half the cost of the firearm

Something to think about

Or you could buy a new trunion for cz usa for $70
http://shop.cz-usa.com/ProductDetail/366000300702_Fixation-Insert-Evo

But then you still need the barrel nut socket $100

And pay them $60 to install the barrel in the trunion

And shipping with a total coming to around $425 including the new barrel.

There are companies out there that can cut, rethread and crown your barrel without having to take it apart

My plan all along has been to install the barrel in a new fixation, which I've already done myself. Not sure why it would require installation by CZ Custom as its a threaded fixation that the barrel gets torqued into and then staked. I have asked them about their torques specs but never heard back. Assuming you have a go/no go gauge set I can't see what other issues you'd have.
