AIMPOINT Scope mount
« on: October 01, 2016, 03:48:19 PM »
I have a Aimpoint H1 that I want to mount on my Scorpion carbine.
I have  a DD lower 1/3 mount that I was using on my AR15 but it's way to high.
What are ya'll using?
Low or med mount?
TIA

Get the low mount.

I am running a Holosun (basically the same  dimensions ), and on it's low mount I have lower 1/3.

The other alternative would be to use a high AR riser with a skeletonized base that you can see the irons thru.

Use the factory included low mount.  It's provides perfect lower 1/3rd cowitness

I'm running a Holosun with the higher mount on my carbine.  As SouthernScorpion said, I can see my iron sights perfectly through the hollow base.  I find lower 1/3 to be distracting and the eyepiece too cluttered.

I have mounted on my CZ Scorpion EVO as Aimpoint Comp M2.  I removed the riser and hence converted it to a low mount.  My stock cheek wield and eye alignment with the red dot is great!  Because of the Scorpion?s stock configuration; either factory or the pistol brace, the low mount option is best - at least for me.

The H-1 should more or less co-witness with the low mount. Mine's on the Aimpoint LRP mount with the spacer removed, but if I'm not mistaken that puts it at the same height as the stock Aimpoint micro low mount.

Full disclosure - I haven't zeroed the gun yet and the photo wasn't taken with everything perfectly lined up, but you can see how nicely the dot sits on top of the front sight post.

Of course, if you want to, there's nothing wrong with mounting it with an AR-height high/lower 1/3rd mount and zeroing it from there, but I personally prefer it co-witnessed, as the rear aperture helps reduce the "comet" effect I get due to my slight astigmatism.
