Anyone SBR the new Scorpion EVO Carbine?
« on: June 23, 2016, 11:59:49 AM »
I'm curious to know if anyone has SBR'd their carbine yet?  Also, I would be interested to hear thoughts on pros and cons of SBRing the carbine vs adding a stock to the pistol version.  Thanks in advance.

Much easier to slide a stock on the pistol than it is to replace a barrel on the carbine.

I wasn't thinking of replacing the barrel on the carbine but rather just having it chopped and threaded by ADCO.  I'm actually having trouble finding the 922r stock/kit for the pistol version.  I suppose the only added benefit with SBRing the carbine is that the suppressor would sit under the handguard but that would mean I would always have to run it with a suppressor.

I read somewhere that someone is working on a barrel nut wrench for the carbine, so a barrel swap/chop+rethread shouldn't be too difficult.
I have the carbine, as I didn't want to hassle with 922r or pay an extra 200+ for the stock. The handguard is a nice bonus too, and if you put a flash can on the shortened barrel, you could probably still shoot unsuppressed if you ever wanted to.

I was thinking of doing the same, shorten & thread the barrel.  EKW Arms sells a carbine socket for $75.  And you can get flash cans up to 5" in length.

SBR the pistol and buy an HBI or CZ carbine handguard.

I'm currently waiting for my pistol stamp to come in. Already been 5 months for the stamp and 6 months for the suppressor.

I'm a gluten for punishment apparently  because I just sent off for an Omega and another tax stamp for an SBR AR.

I was checking the carbine at a gun store and notice the barrel appears to be 2 piece. I noticed looking into the handguard at the middle, the barrel has threads showing and appears to be threaded in some type of a coupler.  Anyone else seen this.

It's not a two piece barrel, it's a threaded section of the barrel for the handguard retaining nut.

Thanks for clarifying st381183.  The clerk at the store did not know much about it.
