Sight cut for P07/P09
« on: March 15, 2015, 12:33:03 AM »
The boys were doing some experimenting  last week.
Heinie sight cut for the P07 and P09. Working out the front sight height. So maybe some options.
Looks pretty good though

That's all good but I wish someone would just design and build a FO front that was not so sharp edged and snaggy for all the CZ stuff!

Sharp edges make for a sharp sight picture.

just take a light polishing stick and break the edges where you want and cold blue. Custom baby!

I must agree with Copemech here. None of the fiberoptic front sights from Dawson (CGW) or from CZcustom are holster-friendly. In fact, they are both what I call "snagomatic" because there isn't anything these front sights won't hook and drag. It is not just that they are too high, it is that they are shaped like hoes or hooks and dig into everything they touch.

All it would take to solve this problem is a rounded curved housing over the fiber optic. My Kingdom for a rounded piece of metal over a fiber optic for the P-07/09!!!

This is why god invented files. :P

You can make a square, round, it takes ALOT to make a round, square.

Stuart, that sight cut looks great.  Now if someone would find a way to put an adjustable rear sight onto a P09 id be as happy as a pig in...well...you know.

How about a Bomar style rear dovetail?  I'd be curious to see an adjustable rear sight on a P series.  I know CGW is working one with the original dovetail, but the Bomar cut would allow a lower profile.

Get those new CNC machines churning out some cool stuff!

Bump again...

I'd REALLY like to find a way to get some "I-dot" (Heine's are certainly acceptable although I prefer the Ameriglo I-Dot Pro's) sights on my P-07... I see this year the P-01 Compact is running some Heine "Slant Pro's" with the 2-dot/"8"/I-dot set-up (sweet looking gun BTW, very drool worthy in it's own right) which is EXACTLY what I'm looking to run on my P-07 if this ever becomes feasible.

Cheers
