Firing pistol barrel under a carbine handguard?
« on: November 01, 2016, 07:16:21 PM »
I will be purchasing the HBi carbine handguard as soon as it's released and wanted to know you guys opinion on shooting the scorpion with the barrel under the handguard?

I will be running the scorpion suppressed but still would like to know.

The 9mm is such low pressure I don't see the bast being a problem but I know with 5.56 it's a no go.

Anytime your hand is in front of the muzzle is a no go as far as I'm concerned. A very easy way to get hurt unintentionally injured.

Agreed to much at risk if it was me I wouldn't do it. Swap it back if not suppressing it. Easy cheesy

High speed gas can easily penetrate the skin.   That is how gunshot powder burns happen on close range shots.

I would highly recommend against it unless it is a "need to defend my life and have no other choice" situation.

Powder residue, filler, bad jacket shavings, and high pressure hot gas can all exit the muzzle and can easily burn, cut, lacerated and otherwise injure you, and those are just the common things which exit a muzzle at high speed. Never put anything forward of the muzzle of a firearm you are not willing to loose or destroy.

For a visual reference, look at pictures of people who try to shoot revolvers with their thumbs forward of the cylinder gap.

No.  At an absolute minimum run a linear comp under the handguard to the end of the barrel...

Fine under handguard w/ suppressor installed, provided suppressor extends past the end of handguard.
