P09 rear sights loose
« on: November 02, 2016, 03:47:16 AM »
I just got my urban grey p09 finally and I noticed the rear sights are very loose(they rattle if I shake the firearm back and forth) anyone know a good way to tighten them?

Is there a set screw on the top of the sight?

Mine was loose as well and I believe I just tightened the screw but will have to look again. I only shot it once and put it up.

There should be an allen wrench in in your case. I have the same gun and had the same problem. Remember it is a set screw so don't over tighten it or it will wear out the threads in the sight and dig into the slide. Use some lock tight before you tighten it back up.

You can also use some blue loctite or prrmatex in the dovetail in combination with the set screw to secure the sight.

Once I got my rear sight where I wanted it, I put removed the set screw, put a drop of blue Loctite in the hole and stirred around with a toothpick to remove the air bubble.

I then reinstalled the set screw hoping it would push the Loctite down under the base of the sight.  It should help lock everything in place.

I agree with Rutherford2 - use some loctite on the threads.
