Rami on the way
« on: August 20, 2016, 07:11:31 PM »
Hey guys, 1st post after the intro-post, I just picked up a 2075 Rami (with the safety) from Gunbrokers, it's on the way to me as I type. I'm excited and anxious to have my first range session with it. I'm primary a 1911 guy, don't hold that against me, as I have a nice collection of 3" 1911's in 9mm. The Rami seemed like a nice step out from that. I'm excited to be here.

All the reviews I've seen are over the top positive, when's the last time you've seen that ? I just had to try one for myself and see and it's right up my alley with ultra/compact size 9mm as the base of my little collection

Good God no, lol.... Not a fan of plastic  ::) But I'll probably get one in some moment of weakness or watching Hickok45 review/shooting one, lol...

Well, I made it to the range, it's a very accurate gun but being solely a 1911 owner for 15 years I felt like a fish out of water with it. It'll definitely take some time to get use too.

The action is smooth and follow-up shots it's easy to reacquire the target. I just couldn't shoot it in double action, waaaay to strange for me. If I was going to carry it, it would have to be cocked and locked.

It does take some time and practice to get used to a first trigger pull DA shot...and to get that first DA shot to hit the target kind of close to where you want it to hit with such a small pistol.  It's very easy to pull the shot way down low, and in my case, off to the left.  It took me close to 6 months to get it figued out and put into muscle memory.  I always fired two or more clips only using DA shots every time at the range.  Now, my DA and the follow up SA shot group fairly close together.

Congrats on the awesome pistol.  From my experience w/ my RAMI ... grip is key.  I initially had a tendency to hit left, but shifting my support hand a tad to ensure no pockets of air on the grip brought me back on center.

One of the nice things about the safety version of the Rami is you do have the option to carry cocked and locked like you would a 1911.  I have one but prefer to carry with one in the chamber and hammer down.  Somehow for me it just feels a little safer that way............I know, I know, cocked and locked is a safe carry mode too, but we all have our quirks don't we ?

I hope you'll enjoy your Rami as much as I have mine.  It's my constant companion.

IDK; I've shot it a few times and I'm trying hard to get use to it but it just may not work.

I really dislike the safety, it's so hard to access and don't like DA at all !

I also feel like the hammer could and would snag on everything carrying cocked and locked.

I'll keep at it, but after 16 years of exclusively shooting 1911's it maybe to much to ask  :(

Awe man!  Follow through is everything on a long revolver like DA shot.  Even a jerked trigger at self defense distances will likely be on target.  You are NOT too old to learn new tricks!

Save tge SA shots when you want good target groups, but keep practicing follow through and you'll master the DA shot as well.
