Ethan,
Welcome from West Texas.  If the trigger pull is a little rough, you can put in just a CGW hammer and it will smooth out nicely.  I've had two P series pistols that had "good" pulls from the factory, and one that was horrible.  All three have the CGW parts in them now, at least the hammer and a 17# hammer spring.

Here is a link to some videos I made a few years ago when the P-09 first came out.

Since you are a rifle shooter, perhaps you would enjoy seeing what a P-09 can do at 100 and 200 yards.  See this link.

The accuracy of the P-09 is so good that I shot mine in bullseye matches all of 2014 before going to a heavy .45 CZ-97.  I have shot a P-07 in a bullseye match also.

Stick with your new pistol.  Another box or two and you will be in good shape, my bet.

Thanks for the welcomes and the information.  I watched some videos on proper grip.  Mine was not even close.  The dry firing practice paid off.  I went back to the range on Friday, and the change was like night and day.  I'm not good by any measure, but I'm shooting consistent groups now.  I'll keep practicing and going to the range.

Is the o-ring or eraser method better at protecting the firearm than snap caps?  Also, I bought a super cheap laser.  It won't hold zero well, but I've found its useful for dry firing.  I turn it on and see how little I can move the laser while pulling the trigger.

Doesn't matter much what you use for dry fire.  Snap caps wear out.  I like O-rings.  Good move on using the laser.  That will really help, if you use it consistently and it will save you some money.

Good point Joe.  I've been looking at the primer of the snap caps, and it does seem to dent the nylon on the ones I have.  I'll try the other options.

Question for you guys.  I've changed my p-09 from de-cocker to safety and wound up with an extra spring.  I found the little chunk of metal and put it where it goes.  I'm not sure where the spring goes though.  I bought an extra with my extended firing pin set from CGW, and it came with the spring.  The original spring is on the left in the picture.  Does anyone have a picture of where this spring goes?

Thanks,

-Ethan

I found it.  The spring goes in a hole in the left side of the safety.  Now I have that nice positive click.  Also, I love the reduced hammer spring, firing pin spring, and extended firing pin from CGW.  It made a big difference!
