Best Paint for Ammo Cans
« on: January 14, 2017, 05:14:27 PM »
Hello everyone, it's been awhile since I've posted.  I was just wondering if anyone out there has ever repainted their metal ammo cans and what kind of paint works best.  I recently picked up a few that had some rust and I cleaned them up, got the rust off and primered (rustoeleum), painted them (rustoleum camo 2x) and topcoated (flat clear) them.  Unfortunately the paint is not staying on very well.  Looking for some pointers so to complete this project and not waste any more time and money.  Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Have them powder coated if you really want to keep them. Or, cheaper, buy new ones.

I had one that was given to me and was in bad shape. I sanded, primed, and sprayed with automotive spray paint in a can. Its held up ok for all the banging around I do with it. Painted it red to distinguish it from anyone else's can.
